My DD and I are doing a last minute trip this June and I was thinking of using a TA (Dreams Unlimited to be exact) we are booking a standard view at AKL and keeping our fingers crossed for an upgrade. But now I keep reading that upgrades are rare when using a TA??? Anyone use a TA and get an upgrade?? I'm just happy we are going and that is enough for me..but of course it would be an added bonus to get an upgrade...and I want to do whatever possible to increase our odds! Thanks!

Where did you read this?

I do not believe that one has anything to do with the other.

I actually read it on Deb's website...and I had it happen to a friend. He used a AAA TA...now he seems confused if it was b/c it was AAA or because he used a TA. He asked about an upgrade and was in fact willing to pay but was told they would have to contact the TA..so he passed. I maybe wrong! I might be reading into things...of couse this is the only thing I could find in a hurry from Deb's website....again...might be reading into that one!

"You should also be aware that if you made your reservations through a travel agent, you may not be able to add or change anything on the reservation."

Right now, if you book your Room Only reservation using the Discount Codes listed on this website, you can get an upgraded room at a better price due to the discount. I just booked a Water View Room at AKL for June using the Discount code and got it for $160 a night (for 4 nights). Using these codes, you can probably get a Savannah room for the "normal" price of a Standard View Room.

Just to clarify that. <b>Prior to traveling</b>, any changes, etc. that need to be done have to be done with your travel agent.

Once you arrive at the resort if you are looking to upgrade they do not have to contact your TA--it is strictly based on availability at that point and what they are willing to offer. Whether or not you used a travel agent will have no bearing on that.

We used a TA for our last trip. We couldn't make changes before we went; she had to do that. But at check in, we asked politely if there was any way we might get to have a room overlooking the animals and got it....even though we already had used a code and was paying below standard view rates.

It was one dd's bday and the other's kindergarten grad trip...Both were noted on our ressies; the girls were with me at check in and had on those personalized Disney shirts that said bday and graduation on them so that might have made the diff. I don't know. I told the CM she got to help answer all our prayers for a Savannah view from the weeks before :)

We booked using AAA TA last July. We booked (2 rooms)standard at WL and were told when we checked in that we had been upgraded to Courtyard. We originally booked at POFQ but when it closed for renovations had to switch. Not sure if maybe that had anything to do with it.

Thanks for all your replies but it appears I may go it alone anyway. I've contacted Small World vacations and DU. I'll keep it at I'm getting a bit annoyed .........
