germophobs warning

I had heard this before. Some people go so nuts with the anti-bacterial soaps and cleansers that their bodies don't know how to react when they do get something. How do people think we grew up before all this stuff? Me, I still make chocolate-chip cookies to eat the batter! I guess I like to walk on the wild side! :earboy2:

I've heard that before, too. I wish they wouldn't even make ones that don't have the correct amount of alcohol. The wrong ones give a false sense of security and are priming us for a lot of problems in the future. :sad2:

DH got a terrible infection last year. It eneed up being antibiotic resistant. He ended up in the hospital for 7 days with IV antibiotics in a "pic line" in his chest. We took out all the anti bacterial soaps and we only use them when someone is sick. The doctors told us to do this. We only use regular soap now.

That just reminds me - Pillsbury Doughboy Cookie Dough is great raw!! My mom used to buy this giant bucket from Costco and I used to devour it!!! Never got sick from it once! And I'm not even fat!!

As for the news report, it just goes to show - be cautious, not overcautious - if you're constantly scared, something will eventually go wrong.

Haha, I'm with you maxi! I still eat the cookie dough as long as the eggs were fresh. I also eat pizza that sits out all night, which is a big no no to the germ-a-phobes. I was happy to see somewhere on TV that it really isn't necessary to use a paper towel to turn on the faucet and open the door in a public bathroom...thank God! Some people are so silly...like you said, how do they think people survived before "anti-bacterial"??

I also saw that antibacterial soap doesn't even kill cold and flu viruses...what are they good for then???

We need GERMS!!! hee hee this coming from a teacher who gets sick every Sept from my little darlings. I love cookie dough and brownie batter! DD is selling cookie dough for a fundraiser for a soccer trip in Europe, The last time we kept one in the fridge and ate it with spoons......yum.

I had to share this--I was making brownies with my 4yr old niece. Now her mom has a huge problem with raw eggs, she will spray any surface they touch with an ab cleanser. Anyway, I look over at my niece who is licking the spoon! :faint: She looks at me and says "good frosting", meaning the batter. Now all I can think is "don't get sick, don't get sick!" Just one more horrible secret I have from dear sis, along with the fact that one time I was dog sitting and her furry baby got into some chocolate covered peanuts. If sis knew that one, she would go nuts!!! :crazy2:
