Geriatric MM Warriors!

Seems like everyon is busy away from their computers now. I am currently helping the 5th grader finish her science project. The pressing question was do oranges rot at different rates when they are stored in different containers. She was too cute and really good about measuring every 3 days. I am helping with the typing (she is painfully slow) and printing, but all of the designing and assembling and wording is hers. I have always felt it was more important for my kids to do their own work. Their projects have always looked like they were done by a kid, but they have always scored well. I think teachers would rather have a little it sloppier project done by a kid than a professional looking project done by a parent (I will now get off my soapbox).

Well, back to printing pics.

See you soon.

Sounds like fun Beverly! :teacher:We'll see you later!

Just checking in everyone. Still haven't made it to work. Steeler game came on at 1. I thought it may come on later. But with Mike's help, shouldn't take longer than maybe 2-3 hours.
I have been so proud of myself. I have had a shiny kitchen sink now for 3 days! No dishes in the dishwasher either!! I am thinking I like FLYLady. I plan to slowly get this house in order!!
I have one more thing I'm proud of. I have a Christmas catcus that the blooms would always fall off of. I brought it in this fall and it has tons of blooms. I read online how to care for them. I came to realize I overwatered and it was too hot in my living room for it. I moved it to the dining room, and the buds are getting bigger! I am sooo excited.
Cindy and Lisa, love the pictures. Thank you for sending them.
Ok, going to finish watching the game.[/QUOTE

Flylady is awesome! Diane is the miracle lady!

Where is Everybody?!! I figured I would be way behind but nobody here...

Well here is the EZ Wedding Soup recipe:

Combine 1 bag small italian frozen meatballs (thawed), 2-3 qts chicken broth or stock, 1 bag fresh spinach or 1 bunch escarole, 2 tbsp each onion and garlic powders, salt, pepper and parsley (fresh or dried) and simmer til all is warmed through and spinach/escarole is cooked! I throw a bit of small dried pasta like orzo in for my moms portion! OMG, I SLAVED all day making this!

Mexican Salsa Soup:

combine 2 cans chicken broth, 1 lb cubed chicken, 2 tsp chili powder, bring to boil and simmer 10 minutes...add 1 cup fine chopped green peppers, 1/2 cup fine chopped onions, simmer 10 minutes more, then add 2 cups salsa and heat through...yummy and quick!

Fresh Mushroom soup:

saute 3 medium chopped onions and 4-5 cloves choped garlic in a bit of oliceoil and butter, reduce to low and add 2 lbs sliced fresh mushrooms...saute 10 minutes or so then add 2 cups 1/2 and 1/2 or cream. 2 cups beef broth salt and pepper and heat through! Mushrooms are disgusting, but Mom loves this!

Took a nice long nap, OMG, I NEVER do that, but it felt great! Went out to move some hay around in the barn with my Godson and happened onto a WASPS NEST the size of a BEACHBALL tucked in between some bales! OMG!!! We ran like babies, and got his Dad to come over and rectify the situation!

Hope you are all missing because you are having a nice relaxing Sunday afternoon....Love You All!

Hi again everyone!!
Well, made it to work and back again. I really need to force myself to clean the offices through the week so I won't have to do it on weekends. But the lady that owns them is so nice. She is the one that I clean her house 4 times a week. She doesn't really care if I do them during the week or the weekend. As long as they get done. I have been working for her for almost 9 years now.

Laura, I hope you get all the typing done. I never did my kids' projects either. I may help, but it is their job to do it.

Robin, I hope neither of you got stung!! I remember lifting a bale of hay one time and a snake slithered out!! It was a garter snake, but it scared me all the same. Just not knowing it was there. LOL. I hope your godson's dad got the situation under control.

Well, off to do a little reading online. :surfweb: Eating my jello and whipped cream. Oh, I tried the homemade jello. Wasn't too happy with it.

I also wanted to know if I could have these crackers or not. Found them at Walmart.
The company that makes them is called
Sesmark
they are all natural savory thins
sesame rice crackers
Net carbs: 22grams per 15 crackers.
ingredients:
rice flour, sesame seeds, sesame flour, expeller pressed safflower oil, tamari soy sauce powder [tamari soy sauce (soybeans, salt), maltodextrin (corn)] salt, and garlic powder.
I didn't realize the corn in () when I bought it. I would only have maybe 4 or 5 of the crackers. They are thin like water crackers.

Catch you all in a bit!!

Does it have any fiber? I think that it would be fine to have under 5 grams of carbs in any crackers, but I think it should follow the same fiber rule that we use on step two. If not the carbs might react like eating five carbs of sugar. I hope that makes sense. Just my opinion, not fact.

Evening y'all,

I didn't try to catch up with all the pages that I have missed.:lmao: Y'all are a fast group for sure.

I continue to go to my Dad's everyday for a few hours. He eats a little most days and then some none. He continues to grow weaker and weaker and don't know how long he can stay there. I always thought a fall would get him, but I now decided that starvation will do it along with liver problems.

My eating and walking have been way off. My heel is better just strange to wake up with it hurting, but could be stress for sure.

Nell, I read briefly about Christmas Cards and would like a list. Will give you my address on fb. Thanks for doing this.

Hope everyone is well,

Gena

They have 23 carbs and 1 fiber. Maybe I should just return them. I was so hungry for a cracker and thought these may do the trick. I just need to get ahold of my free sami wraps!!

Good evening Gena. I will continue praying for your dad. It is just so sad. I always told Mike that if my mom would pass before dad, he would drink himself to death. I can only imagine what you're going through.
I hope your foot feels better soon. Try to take care of yourself.

Don't just go on what I think. Get some more opinions. Having 1 gram of fiber is better than none. Maybe you could exchange them for a high fiber cracker and then divide the serving size to less than 5 grams of carbs.

The more I think of them, the more I'm thinking they may not be the greatest. Even the triscut has a few more fiber than these do. And they are really thin. I'll ponder it tonight. Mike or one of the kids may eat them, so I may try one. I was thinking they may be good to eat with chicken broth for a light snack and 5x5.

Nell: Thanks for the pep talk. I am pleased that I can see a difference and my husband does too. It’s just been really slow for me on the scale. I have lost 10 lbs.altogether - no more on Step 2, but none gained either so that’s good! Every two weeks or so I notice that I’m smaller than I was before so I'm not discouraged. You are so sweet to pep me up.:cheer2:

Carol: How sweet of you to help your friends with their children. I bet you enjoy it as much as they do! You are a great friend.:flower3:

Beverly: Thanks for the photobucket idea. I am behind the times! You are so right about the science project being done by the child! I couldn’t agree more. I bet she loved having your support, too. Thanks for the sweet email.

Kathy: How much fiber is in your crackers? Oh, wait you are on Step 1 now, but I am leaving that there so you can consider them for Step 2. I wouldn’t have them myself because of the corn. I didn’t eat any corn on Step 1 as it isn’t on the list. JMHO.

We had such a nice day! We went for a drive into the Sierras (if any of you know the mountain range) through a small town on a historic highway (not the main one), walked over a footbridge over a river with Bonnie. We walked through the town as if we lived there, to the library, etc. to use up at least 30 minutes and down to the river. It was soooo gorgeous with all the changing leaves. We came upon an area with many, many aspen trees in a wild forest below the line of pine trees, which stretched to the heavens. Had to pull over it was so compelling. As we went on, we found ourselves amid these trees and I’m pretty sure they are aspens. The most brilliant amber color of gold I have ever seen. We were enchanted. It was the best drive ever – we ended up taking the old gold country highway to another old highway we’ve never been on before. Having lived here for nearly all our lives, it was really fun to find a different route to enjoy.

Kathy: I love the flax crackers and they are freebies. 5 = 1 gram. Foods Alive brand and I really like the Italian flavor. I had some yesterday for a free snack:woohoo: You can probably find them in a health food store. I got them at Whole Foods. They also have them on locarbu.

Thank you Nell and Lisa. I believe I will return them tomorrow. I will check out lowcarbu. I just feel a need for a few crackers. Don't know why. Sort of like the whipped cream and milk the other day. I don't even want a lot. 2 or 3 crackers would do me fine. I think because I relied on my sami wraps for my freebie, and not having any.
Well, I think I am off to bed. Been reading FlyLady this evening. I am anxious to get this house in order.
Have a great evening everyone and God bless and sweet dreams. Prayers going out to all of you for whatever it may be that you need.
Love you all :lovestruc

Hope you guys got the soup recipe...on the last page...

Lisa - sounds like you had a really nice day! I agree with you on the crackers though, only 1g fiber and the corn would make me vote no and have the family eat them instead!

Kathy - see if you can find the whole grain wheat thins...I was using them on step 2 and maybe you could have your two or three and still be legal for step 1. They fit the 2g fiber rule too. BTW, I answered your PM too.

Gena - sounds like you are struggling, and I wish we were there to help you out somehow:grouphug:

Nell - I want to start taking the Tumeric supplements I got, but my doc said to just read and make sure there are no interactions with supplements and my RX meds before I take any additional supplements. Any idea where I can go online to find out about that? You are the AUTHORITY on all this for me!!
I am still taking 5 RX meds, Nexium for tummy, Procardia XL and Micardis for BP, along with Lasix fluid pill, and Simvastatin for cholesterol...then I take my senior multivitamin, Calcium w/D, Milk Thistle, Garlic, Cinnamon, Fish Oil, and my baby aspirin. Please dont feel you have to do the research for me! I just thought you might know a site where I could go to find out?

See if this works for you Robin.

Today was an interesting day. I'm not feeling that well. I missed everyone today. I know everyone will be back tomorrow. It's always slow on Sunday's. I got some more yarn and am working on crocheting my squares again. Eventually I'll have enough to fashion a blanket. I made a lot of the faux mashed potatoes today. I'm actually hungry now so I might have some as a snack. I'll check in a bit later unless I fall asleep.

Pony: Turmeric is a spice. That's the best way of thinking of it. It' isn't really a supplement and it's a curry so as if you cooked with curry every day like they do in India.
