George Michael has died

So many good songs but to me he will always be singing "wake me up before you go go"

"Rock And Roll Heaven"

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock n' roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band Jimmy

Gave us rainbows and Janis
Took a piece of our hearts and Otis

Brought us all to the dock of a bay
Sing a song to light my fire, remember Jim
That way, they've all found another place, another place to play

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock n' roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band Jimmy

Remember bad bad Leroy Brown, hey Jimmy
Touched us with that song
Time won't change a friend we came to know and Bobby

Gave us Mack the Knife
Well look out, he's back in town
They'll all be there together
When they meet in one big show

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock n' roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band Jimmy

There's a spotlight waiting
No matter who you are 'cuz everybody's got a song to sing
Everyone's a star
(Everybody's got to be a star)

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock n' roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band Jimmy

So many tragic losses this year. As a child of the 80s, I was a huge fan of George. And Bowie. And Prince. They are all gone too soon (even though Bowie was 69 when he passed, it took me very much by surprise - my daughter, now 22, might be his biggest fan).

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go was probably in my top 10 videos and Careless Whisper made me love this man for his vocal talents. Then we grew up a little and I fell in love with Listen Without Prejudice (again, one of my top 10 albums of all time) and just appreciated him for his overall gifts.

Anyone remember Eli Stone? Not sure why they chose George Michael to play the part in that series that he did, but I loved it. :lovestruc

I feel so sad. And so old.

I cannot believe he was only 53. He was not much older than me when I was a fan as a younger teen. So sad!!!

Hmmm....don't we all die from heart failure?

No.

In CHF, the heart would be the cause, because it has failed the body.

In situations like Brain Death, the brain would be the cause, because it has failed the body. The heart/organs are still strong, but the individual is declared clinically dead.

Brain Death also allows doctors to preserve an unfailed heart via donation. You can't do this with CHF.

That is far to young. For some reason I remember the first time I heard a Wham song. I believe it was the first day of high school, and I missed the bus ride home. I walked from school to our house, and while doing so someone along my walk was playing a song over and over that went, Jitter Bug Jitter Bug.

My reaction was the same as yours when I read the "passed away peacefully at home" bit. I just assumed he had been sick.

Yeah, I don't think it's "normal" to pass away peacefully at home at age 53. That sounds as if the family expected it and were not in shock. It's a shame. He had such a wonderful voice. Saw him twice in concert in the 80s when he was solo and his voice was amazing live.

seriously?

Yep. And I was using great restraint to answer nicely.

However, it was a rhetorical question. One that was incredibly insensitive to all our loved ones who had strong hearts upon their untimely passings.

It also boggles my mind that anyone can "like" that post. Not funny or right.

A perfect ending to this spectacular crud show of a year.

DD were talking about GM the other day when his Christmas song came on. Rats.

Man, 2016, can you just end already! This year has taken so much. RIP George Michael, a great musician and entertainer.

Reports are starting to come out (not sure yet how reliable) that it might have been a heroin overdose.

That would certainly make a lot more sense than a 53 year old heart just giving out.
