george herbert walker bush

i remember when the clintons called him this. all the democrats thought it was so appropriate because it told everyone about his background and it was implied that his name meant something that was no good. that was 1992. fast forward 16 years and they are using barack hussein obama for the same reason, and the same people that thought it was no big deal(why should he be ashamed of his and name?) now call it unfair? am i missing something here?

Because apparently it is not Politically correct and ofcourse everyone who says his full name its because its to still up racial/religious issues:rolleyes:

Unless someone tells you that is why they are using his middle name, then I think its a lot for anyone to assume as true. The real fear that people should have of Obama is that his policies are in line with Karl Marx.

Really? As someone who has studied quite a bit of Marx, I'm very interested to hear which of Marx's views Obama agrees with.

Is Obama a historical materialist?
Is he a standpoint theorist?
Does he share Marx's skepticism of the very concept of "rights"?
Does he agree with Marx about religion?
Does Obama have a labor theory of value?
Does he share the paradoxical and confusing view about the justice of capitalism that Marx had?

Hmm, I'm not seeing any connection. In fact, I doubt that Obama (like the vast majority of Americans who use Marx's name as a bad word) could actually say what Marx's view on most of these issues are. Which were you referring to?

So you honestly believe that if Obama's middle name was Joe, the Tennessee Republican Party would still go around calling him Barack Joe Obama? You don't see the connection with a dislike of Islam and a Republican committee using the name of "Hussein"?

This is the phrase in which it was used:

" ...a growing chorus of Americans concerned about the future of the nation of Israel, the only stable democracy in the Middle East, if Sen. Barack Hussein Obama is elected president of the United States."

So, you still don't believe the Tennessee Republican Party was trying to make a connection with Islam? And you don't think the RNC actually understoood the connection when it denounced the use of Obama's middle name? They even acknowledged the tactic was a distraction.

Don't insult the intelligence of your fellow citizens.

They used President Bush's full name , they use Hillary's full name, but they don't use Obama's full name because it makes people remember him as being named after a murderous dictator (Saddam Hussein). He is also an african American so that gives him another reason to object to using his full name, by allowing his followers to cry racism. Its all in the perception.

I would love to see the proof that he was purposely named after a murderous dictator. Would you please provide some links to this proof so I can see for myself?

I was under the impression that Hussein is a pretty common name, much like John here.

I had no idea Obama's parents picked that name specifically to name him after Saddam Hussein. So, again, would you please provide the links?

Thanks in advance!

Really? As someone who has studied quite a bit of Marx, I'm very interested to hear which of Marx's views Obama agrees with.

I am thinking that Obama might like the quote;
"From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs". Or perhaps one of Karl Marx's other quotes; "I am not a Marxist".

When people are saying, "Barack Hussein Obama" they are trying to invoke the pathetic fears in people that he is somehow tied to Muslim terrorists.

Comparing that to George Herbert Walker Bush is comparing apples to oranges.

Like we're all idiots...

I was politically active and 36 years old in 1992.. I don't remember this tactic at all... as if it would've mattered.

I think the fear mongering and assuming people have the IQ of a raisin is more insulting than anything.

I don't remember people using Bush 41's full name. And as for Obama's middle name? Who care what it is. Even if he is Muslim it wouldn't matter, unless he was brainwashed into thinking he was a Christian and the moment he was president he would do something bad. You know, there's an episode of Star Gate like that. Someone from a friendly race had been brainwashed into killing the President of the United States (didn't happen thought). Hey, it could happen. Aliens from another planet could brainwash someone into killing someone else. ;)

Seriously though, who cares what Obama's middle name is. If someone wants to link Obama with something bad because of his middle name then they are being stupid.

"From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs". Or perhaps one of Karl Marx's other quotes; "I am not a Marxist".

Neither of which prove your claim.

:scared1: Oh, and btw, two American Idol Finalists are named Castro and Noriega.... I'M NOT VOTING FOR THEM!!!!:scared1: oh the terror oh the fear, HIDE the children!!!

:lmao: Scary people give me the hives!

So your argument is:

Obama "might like" two quotes, according to you.

(Insane leap of logic)

Therefore, Obama is Marxist?

Um....yeah I'm not really following you there.

I was 30 years old in 1992 and I don't ever remember hearing President Bush Sr. being referred to as George Herbert Walker Bush during a campaign. And is it on rich people who have 2 middle names? If so, I blew it in my mid 20's, because I was dating a guy who had 3 middle names (Francis Edward Carr) in addition to his first and last name.

I coulda been rich!!!!!!!

In any event, Barack Obama's middle name being Hussein doesn't really faze me....

John Sidney McCain III

Oh that's a nice middle name, I've always liked the name Sidney!

Does every single person who uses Obama's middle name doing so out of racism and bigotry? Maybe not but I can't help but wonder about their motives when they do so, especially when they do it 11 times in one speach!

I'm not too worried about it though, anyone that will vote for Obama won't have their minds changed by it, and anyone that won't vote for him likely have other reasons for doing so anyway. The few idiots that believe his middle name has anything to do with anything won't make any difference in the election results, one way or the other.

You really think that Obama's parents named him after Saddam Hussein?

I had read that he'd been named after his father, Barack Hussein Obama Sr, who had been named after his father, Hussein.

From what I've read, Hussein is a common name in the Arab world, and was the name of Muhammed's grandson, as well as King Hussein of Jordan. Fearing Obama for his middle name would be like fearing Joseph Biden because "he was named after Joseph Stalin".

I agree, OP. They are doing the same thing that the Dems did. Does any of this surprise anyone? Both sides are guilty of fear-mongering. Both sides are going to play every single card that they can find. Neither side is going to let an opportunity pass. I'm sure that McCain will be getting hit with ageism in the near future (some have already mentioned it here).

The fact remains that some people will vote based on the issues. Some people will vote for Hillary because she is a woman. Some won't vote for Hillary because she is a woman. Some will vote for Obama because he black. Some won't vote for Obama because he is black. Some won't vote for Obama because they are certain that he is a Muslim. Some will vote for McCain because he is a white man. Some won't vote for him for that very reason.

Does any of this really surprise anyone? :confused3

George Herbert Walker Bush, William Jefferson Clinton, Hillary Rodham Clinton, John Fitzgerald Kennedy......Barrack Hussein Obama. So what. That's his name. If he doesn't like his name, let him change it.

I've got to say that I agree with Dawn. Hussein is Obama's middle name. Sure, I understand that it's a muslim middle name, but how brain dead does a person have to be to not vote for someone because of a middle name. My thinking is, the people who won't vote for Barack because his middle name is Hussein are the same people who would never vote for him anyway. IMO, Obama should embrace it, and tell the public how ridiculous those who think that they can make a shred of difference in the upcoming election by calling him Hussein are really being. Those who think that it'll somehow sway the vote have zero respect for the intelligence of the average American citizen. Yes...I'm looking in your direction, Mr. Limbaugh...

The "few idiots" still believe that their own fears should be our fears and that we should be as "idiotic" as they are.

BTW my middle name is Renay.... I should not be voted for because my parents didn't know how to SPELL it!! :lmao:
