Genius or crazy ~ Milk idea...

Here's another idea, just don't drink milk. Neither you nor your kids need it. Humans are the only mammal that actually drinks the milk of another mammal. Cows have 4 stomachs and there's a reason, it takes 4 stomachs to properly digest cows milk. No other mammal continues to drink even it's own milk after infancy. So why do we do it? Because we're brain washed into thinking it's healthy. If you take vitamins, and eat a healthy diet you will get everything you need nutrition wise without it.

My son hasn't had a drop of milk since he was 2 and when we do his annual blood work all comes up perfect.

The only ones benefiting from people drinking milk is the dairy farmers and the people who sell the milk.

Because beer tastes nasty on Coco-Puffs?

I've been buying Soy Milk more recently. It's cheaper than the skim milk I buy. I always seem to get coupons for Soy Milk. I get vanilla or chocolate which I'm sure adds calories and sugar.

Only problem is if I need to make something like Kraft Dinner. My dad was over fixing my bathroom and I needed to make him lunch. Luckly there was a tiny bit of milk left from the daycare supply.

I don't really drink milk except occasionally if I have cereal so I don't think I'm qualified on this subject but wouldn't watering down the milk affect it if you use it to cook. Or would it be like using skim milk when they call for whole?

OP - If your family can tolerate the watered down milk go for it. I am thinking you are doing this to save money??

If we gave up drinking milk then what foods would we eat to replace the Vitamin D and calcium found in milk??

Milk is so relatively inexpensive now... I would think the hassle would outweigh the negligible financial benefit.

sunshine and broccoli?

I think if it tastes good to YOU and YOUR family, then go right ahead and do it.

Personally, diluting it that much doesn't sound good to me, but then I've never tried it. I happen to like ice in my milk, and in my orange juice. If I don't drink the entire glass before all the ice melts, then I'm probably getting 3 parts milk or juice to 1 part water. It still tastes good. (I normally buy 1% or 2% milk though, so that's what I'm starting with before diluting it with melted ice.) :goodvibes

We drink plenty of milk here but only 1% or sometimes 1/2%. Milk is pretty inexpensive so I don't really see the benefit of diluting it. It would spoil here before we could drink both gallons.

As for milk not being good for you, there is evidence that ancient people drank milk from both cows and goats. I think that something that has been done since ancient times is likely fine.

I don't think I'd water down milk, it just doesn't sound very good.

Where chocolate milk is so expensive here what I do with that for the kids to stretch it out is mix 1/2 white and 1/2 chocolate and they love it. They will even go to restaurants and ask for it mixed now lol.

Lol, far too logical for the dis.

So water on your raisin bran is gross?

Ergo many folks put whole milk (unhealthy) on their cereal (usually healthy unless with high sugar content).

And also many folks put dressing (unhealthy) on their salad the specifically got for lunch to be more healthy than the pizza or cheesburger.

Through grad school I usually had a glass of whole milk (sometimes it was chocolate whole milk) at every meal, at the cafeteria. After that I stopped drinking milk. For all I know I am now a heart attack waiting to happen from clogged arteries.

Have to admit I've never even heard of the idea that low fat milk is made by adding water to the milk. Check the label of your milk products. If it had water added, it would have to be listed. There is nothing but milk and vitamins on my skim milk label. :confused3
