Genie Plus - Experiences and Reviews

Just checking in for some opinions. We are headed to the parks for the weekend in mid-September (taking advantage of the summer promo tickets). We will have less than a 1/2 day Friday (driving down from the Bay Area) and then 2 full days Saturday and Sunday. I'm debating purchasing Gennie+/LLMU for all 3 days, or just getting it for Friday/Saturday. There are 4 of us, and I"m not sure we'd get $120 worth of use out of it on Friday.
Thas being said, how likely is it that the price will be higher than $30/per person on a weekend in September?
Thoughts?

Thanks!!

We usually don't get it on our arrival days/partial days and use those days to focus on rides that do not offer Lightning Lanes. We knock out most of fantasyland which doesn't have Lightning Lane rides (unless you count Matterhorn and Small World as Fantasyland, but they are more adjacent to me. Also Small World rarely has a line over 15 minutes.) And then we focus on things that have smaller lines usually.
Sundays are often the slowest day of the week with the shortest lines. We usually get tons done with Lightning Lanes on the weekends.

That being said, it is probably going to be very busy in September as people use up their remaining days on the summer promo tickets. That was an impact when they did the similar ticket offer in the Spring as the expiration date on that ticket neared.

I hope that helps and you are going to have a lot of fun no matter what if you bring your patient pants and make the most of making your own magic!

Has anyone been unsuccessful trying to accelerate with MEP lately?

We got a couple MEP from Matterhorn and booked a lightning lane for MMRR for later, but when we scanned it used the MEP instead.

Is it possible for this thread to be renamed to LLMP and kept as a resource? It's such a great thread with valuable info, and the system functions essentially the same as before except for the name change (and acceleration going away).

Is there a single post or maybe a different thread with a good overview of current tips on maximizing LLMP?

An updated version would be nice, with any additional info/changes with the new system.

Well accelerating did not work for us yesterday. Got an MEP when Indy went down. Rebooked it for later in the day and when we scanned in it used the MEP and not the LLMP. I did have great luck with modifying to set up our evening though.

So I’m not sure where the thread was, I think it was said that you had to enter the park before you could select any lightning lanes, but FreshBaked just said he booked his first ride from his house or on his way to the park?
Am I not remembering it correctly or is he not remembering his morning correctly. lol

He's probably referencing the MK virtual queue for Tiana's, which does not require you to be at the park for the first drop in the morning.

LL at DLR absolutely requires each member of your party to physically scan into the park to start booking.

Did you see the image of one of the replies? (I had just added it to my post, probably while you were typing)
Even he says “yes, do it like you did”.

They are definitely not talking about MK. But I just don’t know what I’m missing here. lol

I'm not sure what the commenter is referencing. They could be talking about WDW where it's different, a bot, or just plain wrong.

At DL, you must be scanned in to book LLMP or LLSP.

VQ is different and not part of LL.

I hear ya, but they are definitely talking DLR.

I just posted, along with other people asking the same thing. Maybe we all just misunderstood.

Just because someone posts something on the internet, it doesn't make it accurate or true. In fact, it might not even be a real person.

As a matter of course, it's worth being highly discerning about most of what you read online.

Just to clarify - FreshBaked *in his video* about using “a day using LLMP” while walking into the park stated that he booked Big Thunder Mountain Railroad while he was at home, prior to scanning into the park. That’s what everyone is confused about. He doesn’t necessarily have any incentive to lie about that.

Thank you, that is confusing. I'm not going to participate in this discussion any longer. It's like I'm in the twilight zone.

Disneyland's rules about the system require that each person scan into the park before booking LL.

Maybe it's changed, but there's been no official word about any adjustments to the scanning in rule.

Yes, and that's where we are at currently right at this moment. ;)
The issue is we're talking about a guy that spends 3-5 days a week in the park, its not like he doesn't know what he is doing or what he is talking about, but he may have misspoke or meant something else, but we can all agree it is stated in the rules, which is why we are having this conversation in the first place.

Exactly, he has no reason to lie, & if others are responding, it makes me wonder how or why, & that's all we're doing here is trying to figure out what they mean, or if we thought wrong. But it can't be both, so we'll see at some point what the deal is.

@OlliePop27 and @tukuutz I got an email from David @ FreshBaked, & here is what happened. (just a general email to subscribers, not to me personally)
A follow up to our previous broadcast regarding our test of Lightning Iane Multi Pass.

In that post, and in the video we published on YouTube, it was mentioned that we recommend booking lightning lanes before you enter the park. There was a lot of confusion on this as it turns out that’s not supposed to be possible lol.

I’ve said a few times that I simply do not have a lot of reps using Lightning Iane. I’m a lover stand by. But when I performed this test of LLMP, I assumed I could book them before I arrived in the park, and so I did.

Here’s a post on twitter showing the video of me actually booking that 10:45 am Lightning Iane for Big Thunder.

I assumed it was possible in the same way that it’s possible to do mobile order from home (which we do every Thursday in our live streams) and in the same way it’s possible to book a 7 am virtual queue distribution from home.

But it’s not possible. You CAN’T book a Lightning Iane from home. Well, more specifically, you can’t BUY Lightning Iane from home.

Correction again. It’s possible, it’s just not supposed to be. This is some kind of glitch in the app that allowed me to buy one, and apparently it’s something that does happen from time to time. I’d be very curious to know what the trigger might be to see if it’s reproducible.

Nevertheless, I just wanted to put this up everyone's mind at east that A) this shouldn’t have happened and B) I’m not clueless, though more clues are needed in the future so that I can better understand Lightning Iane.
So since he was able purchase it from home, he got to choose a LL.. Interesting stuff. lol
I'm sure they will fix that glitch asap.
