We are going for the first time in early to Disney World. (Really early... June 1-June 6)... I am an elementary teacher, so unfortunately summer is our only time.

Is that already "peak season"? Will crowds be crazy? What about weather? Can I except rain nearly daily?

Thanks!

Trina

:welcome: to the DIS, Trina!

Crowds start to crank up in June. But you are going at the very beginning of the month so it won't be too bad yet.

The weather will be hot, and there is a good chance that almost every day there will be afternoon thunderstorms which will last anywhere from 15 minutes to a couple of hours.

Hey Trina !

DW is also a teacher and we went the first week of June 2007. The crowds were up, but not insane. We got one rain shower the whole week(shortly after dinner time). We donned the ponchos and forged ahead to the Great Movie Ride.

All in all it was a great trip and we will be traveling at the end of June this year with extended family. Hope your visit with the Mouse is awesome ! :thumbsup2

Congrats on your trip!

Crowds will be starting to get heavier since most schools will be out and it will be HOT! We have gone twice during June and we usually encounter an afternoon rain shower most days but I've never seen one be too bad that you couldn't keep going while wearing a poncho and they always never lasted longer than 20 - 30 minutes.

Have a great time!

We usually go in June or July because I to am a school teacher. The weather is hot but there are soooooooo many places to cool off it gets too bad. As far as rain goes, soooooooo many attractions are indoors or at least partially indoors that even a little rain does kill the disney magic. The crowds are what you would expect. Not sure if it matters but the Gay Days event is always the first week in June. I've never really been at this time so I don't know if this is very crowded. I think the later in the summer the more crowded it gets. Have fun!!!!

Don't let summer intimidate you in any way;) We go then due to DS and DDs school activities the rest of the year and have grown to love the peak season:thumbsup2 Get dining ressies now for any sit downs. Arrange time in MGM on the Star Wars weekend. Pick the day's park based on the extended magic hours (listed on the resorts button above) and you get to stay an extra 3 hours after closing:love: Utilize fastpasses and make sure you get a shady parade route spot early. Go to shows and AC'd attractions in the heat of the day and yes, bring a poncho so you can carry on during the occasional cloudbursts. Pace yourself and just enjoy WDW at it's best!

...oopps:rolleyes: the EMH schedule will be on the theme park button, not resorts. Sorry!

My husband is also a teacher and we went the second week of June '05. The only park that the heat bothered me in was Animal Kingdom, because most attractions are outdoors. Definitely bring those battery operated fans that you can fill with water. We bought ours at Walmart for like $4, and definitely used them constantly. Lots of people were buying them in the parks for $20! We got poured on once for about an hour, and dealt with sprinkles a couple of times. We're going again mid June '09. Have fun!!

The last couple of years we went the 2nd and 3rd weeks of June. Yep, it's hot. Yep it rains some. But you can beat the crowds by using the best (and worst) parks to visit on which days calendar. We have used the Unofficial guide one. It makes all the difference in the world. We never waited more than 15 or 20 minutes for anything and most things we pretty much walked right on. So do not fear June at all. Just enjoy the showers to cool off some. No matter what the weatherman says, take a poncho with you. Hahaha...and yes, we'll be there again the 2nd and 3rd week again this June. Can't wait!
