General chit chat thread.

That is awful about he other patient, though hopefully you dad will soon be home.:wizard:

OMG, Claire!!! That sounds awful - your poor Dad!!! Hope he stabilises and makes it home asap... :grouphug: I haven't been a psychiatric nurse for almost 20 years and never worked much on a general ward BUT when an alcoholic/drug addict patient required non-psych treatment, they were usually contained with a side ward and a psych nurse seconded to the general ward to help out... :sad2:

Sounds like a normal Friday/Saturday night for the medical staff. I have nothing but respect for nurses especially A&E ones. In the ambulance service we deal with our fair share of people like that.

Glad your dad is looking better & hope it continues:thumbsup2

 Glad to hear that your dad is looking better, but how awful about the other patients behaviour, and it's a disgrace that a nurse would feel that being beat up was all part of the job

Thanks guys.

I knew that nurses/doctors etc had it tough but when you've been beaten up & complained to your boss to just be told it's part of the job. :scared1::eek: That is just shocking. :sad2:

There was a cleaner who was cleaning all the bed & surrounding area next to my dad this afternoon and she was chatting away to my dad & he was telling her about the trouble they had had last night & she told him it is a regular thing, she moved her hair away from her face & showed my dad her big swollen black eye that she had been given from another patient last week. :sad2: My dad pointed her out to me earlier as she walked past his ward, well I couldn't believe it she was a small lady from the Philippines or that area, not even 5ft tall & probably in her 50's! Why on earth would someone punch her?

I would hate to be in a job like that where you could be hit for no reason. They deserve to be paid so much more than they get. :guilty:

What's the matter with your Dad Claire? Hope he gets well soon.

Morning all. :goodvibes

That's us all packed and set ready to head off in an hour and a half.

Checked in online yesteray but didn't get the seats i requested, :sad2: never mind at least they haven't put us right near the toilets. :rotfl:

See you all when i get back

Hi Bev. I take it you got home ok, I haven't had chance to read your trippie since Monday night. I hope to catch up this morning. :) My dad was taken into hospital on Sunday morning & after having an Endoscopy (camera down throat into stomach) they found he had two ulcers in his stomach, which they treated whilst he was sedated & now he is on medication via a drip for a few more days. Hopefully if the bleeding has stopped he will be allowed home tomorrow.

See you all when i get back

Hope you have a fab time!

Good morning all.

Anyone got any exciting plans today????

I have got some housework to do this morning then over to pick my mum up & go see my dad again.

I had a really restless nights sleep last night, I think it was because when we were laying in bed I started talking about the holiday & got really excited. I hope it was just a one off as I can't be having no sleep for the next month!

Morning Claire

Well it's chucking it down with rain this morning :( I've got a day of housework today too. I've got the fun task of changing the beds and getting all the sheets done (I hate that job). While the washing machine is on, I'll pop to town and pick up any last bits and bobs we may need

Have a lovely day everyone :)

I am waiting in for the autoglas man to come and fix the broken car window, but if the rain continues he won't come - they can't fix it in the rain :headache:

We are going to see Pelham 123 ( we might have a meal somewhere as well )

Hope your Dad's continuing to improve, Claire!!! And try to contain your excitement, hun - you'll be a wreck by the time you get to WDW if you don't!!! :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

Have a good day, Mandy!!! :thumbsup2 I quite enjoy that last minute pre-hols housework blitz!!! I find going back to a clean house can slightly ease post-hols pain... I always put bowls of pot pourri everywhere so it smells good when we return too...

The Taking of Pelham 123 is a great film - I saw the original ages ago and loved it... Have fun, Nat!!!popcorn::

Fingers crossed you can get that sorted, Andrea... :flower3:

Have fun, Claire! :goodvibes I'll be hanging around the house too - I've got to go thro' our builder's quote with a fine tooth comb and make sure that everything on my wish list is accounted for. :surfweb: I don't want any nasty surprises for him - but especially me...

I didn't know until last night that it was a remake :rotfl2:

Good luck with the builders hun , i know Joh found it very stressful !!

Thanks hun. I am going to see him in a mo.

I think the fact the trip is so close is the only thing keeping me going at the moment.

Have fun going through your builders quote.....I don't envy you, it is such a stressful time. I am so glad that all of ours is pretty much done now....it's worth it in the end though and as you say hopefully they will have the worst of it done whilst your in WDW. :thumbsup2

I'm resigned to the stress, Claire - it's a huge job and I know it's going to be tough as I reckon they'll be around for 6 months!!! :headache: :faint:  Over the weekend Richard has got to empty the garage and sheds that they'll be demolishing to build the extension. He's negotiated a fee with youngest DS for additional help and I'll be overseeing of course, but moving stuff out of the spooky spider-infested glory hole is definitely not a job for someone with my skillset... ;) :rolleyes1

I didn't get the job, all 3 posts were filled by internal/council candidates (including one who is stepping down from a higher paid role) so I probably never stood a chance to begin with :headache: I was told at lunchtime so it was tough getting through the rest of the day, glad I was on an early and finished at 3! I was told why I didn't get it but I honestly think I could have been the best person they interviewed and still wouldn't have...
I have been offered to continue my placement there til December, possibly Easter, which i've agreed to and will probably be more happy about once I feel less bitter :sad1:
That's my pity party out of the way now, as you were! ;) :upsidedow It's times like this i'm soo glad I have a holiday to look forward to :)
