That is awful about he other patient, though hopefully you dad will soon be home.![]()
OMG, Claire!!! That sounds awful - your poor Dad!!! Hope he stabilises and makes it home asap...I haven't been a psychiatric nurse for almost 20 years and never worked much on a general ward BUT when an alcoholic/drug addict patient required non-psych treatment, they were usually contained with a side ward and a psych nurse seconded to the general ward to help out...

Sounds like a normal Friday/Saturday night for the medical staff. I have nothing but respect for nurses especially A&E ones. In the ambulance service we deal with our fair share of people like that.
Glad your dad is looking better & hope it continues![]()
Glad to hear that your dad is looking better, but how awful about the other patients behaviour, and it's a disgrace that a nurse would feel that being beat up was all part of the job

Thanks guys.

I knew that nurses/doctors etc had it tough but when you've been beaten up & complained to your boss to just be told it's part of the job.

There was a cleaner who was cleaning all the bed & surrounding area next to my dad this afternoon and she was chatting away to my dad & he was telling her about the trouble they had had last night & she told him it is a regular thing, she moved her hair away from her face & showed my dad her big swollen black eye that she had been given from another patient last week.

I would hate to be in a job like that where you could be hit for no reason. They deserve to be paid so much more than they get.
