General chit chat thread.

morning all

Claire hope you get some good news soon about your Dad

well done Matthew good score :goodvibes

Mandy, I always clean our house from top to bottom before I go,however i have to do it all again when i come home as my dad is not great at cleaning and he cat sits for us

--------------------------------------------------

I am going to get the suitcases down from the loft today and start packing :dance3::laundy:

All a bit up in the air for me again today until we hear how my dad is. I imagine I will be off to the hospital this afternoon to visit him, hopefully he will be in less pain today. :wizard: They found two ulcers in his stomach yesterday when they put the camera down.

I hope your Dad is feeling better today:wizard::wizard:

I took DD to get her hair cut this morning, she had cut the front as the sides herself so has had to have a sweeping fringe while it grows back out. looks better now anyway.

Need to start getting her school uniform and new PE kit this week so we can get the style she likes, if we leave it to late they don't have what she wants left. We usually get her the dresses however she says she to old for them now and wants a skirt.

I have been signed off for a week by my gp due to my back. I went to my station to sort it out but there was no clerical officer & the others were about as helpful as a chocolate teapot:rolleyes:

I really hope I can get my transfer soon as i'm not happy on the station & want to work out of the one I did my 3rd manning at least they made you feel welcome. Sorry for my vent I know its trivial but in my job you all need to be able to get on with each other but they are so cliquey which I hate.

Hello, everyone!
Just had a BBQ sauce making 'cook-off' with my DS. :thumbsup2 We've both used 'secret' ingredients and he's desperate to know what mine are - if you see him, please don't mention dark choc, cherry coke and bourbon... :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

Two snippets of big news this afternoon. Firstly, I've finally agreed a date with the builders to start work on the l-o-n-g overdue extension and total renovation of our home!!! Feeling a mix of :scared1: and :dance3: - obviously I'm terrified at the thought of all the intrusive hassle but finally realising the dream of a brand spanking sparkly new home is just so fab, I'm almost drooling at the prospect!!! Or maybe that's the BBQ sauce..? Anyway, they'll start when I go to WDW in September so the major demolishing should be completed by the time I return...

Secondly, I'm pleased to tell y'all that I passed all my 1st year Uni exams so come October, I'll be storming into second year BSc Criminology & Criminal Psychology!!! I can't quite believe it but I managed an overall grade of 69% :faint: - maybe they mixed me up with someone else...? :cool2:

Most importantly though, I wanted to send best wishes plus plenty of pixiedust and hugs to those that need it... pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

congratulations, that is an excellent mark.

Tomorrow afternoon/evening I should find out if I get the job I interviewed for last Friday, have been doing on supply for the last 3 months and desperately want. I keep telling myself not to get my hopes up and to expect the worst but I won't lie, if I don't get it i'll be absolutely gutted :guilty:

I'm rooting for you  let us know !

i am feeling really down today :sad2:, what with the bad weather, by bag being stolen and not being able to go anywhere until my cards/phone are replaced etc.and the expense of replacing it all, plus i have had a headache pretty much all day :upsidedow

:cheer2::cheer2: Congrats on your results Karen! :cheer2::cheer2:

I am just back from the hospital, my dad is looking better than he was yesterday, he had a rough night though. They now have his meds set up on a drip which he has to be on for at least 72 hours, he really wants to come home....doctor said maybe Thursday. :wizard:

They have another patient in the bay next to my dad's who is a druggie/alcohollic & he has been causing havoc. Whilst I was there yesterday afternoon he was trying to escape & they had the doors locked & security following him everywhere. (He walks all around the wards & won't stay in his bed, he even came up to my dad & tickled his toes). Anyway last night he beat up one of the male nurses & they had the police in three times. :sad2: It's disgusting what they have to put up with, the nurse that got beat up was told it's all part of the job.

That's a shame... Hopefully you'll get your essentials replaced asap and life will feel more normal...

OMG, Claire!!! That sounds awful - your poor Dad!!! Hope he stabilises and makes it home asap... :grouphug: I haven't been a psychiatric nurse for almost 20 years and never worked much on a general ward BUT when an alcoholic/drug addict patient required non-psych treatment, they were usually contained with a side ward and a psych nurse seconded to the general ward to help out... :sad2:

Congratulations Karen:yay:

Sounds like a normal Friday/Saturday night for the medical staff. I have nothing but respect for nurses especially A&E ones. In the ambulance service we deal with our fair share of people like that.

Glad your dad is looking better & hope it continues:thumbsup2

 Glad to hear that your dad is looking better, but how awful about the other patients behaviour, and it's a disgrace that a nurse would feel that being beat up was all part of the job
