General chit chat thread.

Thanks Itsasmallworld, I was going to go to Abbesses as I thought that was the closest to Sacre Coeur, I will locate Anders now.

Manky day up here too Mandy, grey and rainy.

Just got up at 3.30 am, left the house at 4 am and ran my eldest son up to Newcastle airport. It was actually cheaper to book a single flight ticket down to Heathrow than buy a train ticket. Anyway his plane took off just a bit later but is due in 15 minutes early. I felt quite upset when I was seeing him off but managed to control myself 99%, felt like my heart was getting cracked. Just so worried about the Thailand side of his trip. He gave me his plans last night and elephant treking was on it and also an overnight train back up from somewhere to Bangkok to arrive at 7 then get to the airport for a flight at 1020, didn' t think that was a good plan. He is recalculating. Very easy to offend thai people so been finding as much out as I can, ie don' t lick stamps, don' t stand of banknotes (because King and Queen on them), such a different culture to our own. Not much I can do now.

Just trying to chill out now, one finger nail gone now. Later on taking the youngest son to the station as he is off down to Doncaster staying with a mate tonight before getting a train tomorrow for the Leeds Festival. Just hoping it isn' t as wet as it is forecasted to be over the weekend.

Hope you all have a good day.

Not surprisingly its rainnig here as well !! Ive got the morning off and im supposed to be going into town to get the kids the last few bits for their school uniforms.

have a good day all :)

Just started raining here :sad1:

I am taking the girls for their holiday/back to school haircuts this morning then Poppy has a build a bear party/tea late this afternoon.

The builder asked yesterday if he could come last night instead of tonight which was okay but now I have tons of paperwork to do for the neighbours re: the extension, and I want to get it done before we go away so they can peruse it for a week. I could do without it TBH as I'm rushed around out of the house today facilitating the girls socials lives when I really need to be at home doing :laundy: ironing, packing and doing holiday and back to school admin.....

Have a great day everybody:thumbsup2

Not guilty!

I was referring to you needing the cruise/wdw not another holiday!!!! But Paris sounds good. ;)
Ahhh! I see! I'm back to Uni the week after we get back from WDW (how inconvenient!!!) so a long weekend is going to be the best I can hope for - for a while at least... Tho' we do have a lovely chalet booked in Chamonix for the week after Christmas and I am VERY MUCH looking forward to that... :cloud9:

Ugghh ! It's yucky here, thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Bill

I was hoping to go shopping with Becky this morning to Leicester, but I don't know whether the rain will put her off...
Hope it clears up for you both...

Its pouring down here as well - yucky
:sad2:

Is that all the party wall stuff, Joanne? Do you have a good relationship with your neighbour? I'm suddenly worried as I realise that when they knock down our garage, we'll be open to our neighbour until they fence it off again - and I know she's not going to like that!!! Any more than she's going to like cutting her crazy, overgrown and dangerously near the house shrubbery down... I'll have to get Richard to go and have a word with her... ;)

Awww Bev...   It's so tough, isn't it? I remember taking my son to his girlfriend's as they were going together to the airport. I dropped him at their house, gave him an extended hug and a kiss before driving off - I had to pull in down a side street for a cry before I could carry on... :sad2:

Morning all!!!

Yep, like Joanne said, it's raining here - tho' not heavily I don't think. This is the first chilly morning I've woken up to in ages so it's a bit of a relief for me personally - I am so sick of the mugginess...

Samuel's off to his friend's house in a while - he's staying overnight and insists he'll be back early tomorrow for the whole rest of his GCSE results thing - we'll see...

Richard's working from home today but has to go back into town later for some dinner with US clients or something and I'll be home alone!!! I'm absolutely terrified of this due to the influx of huge spiders we've been exposed to lately :scared1: so I'm taking no chances and popping round to Sophie's for the evening...

Thanks Karen. Forgot to say the other day how fantastic meeting Johnny Depp in Paris, I would be speechless. Hope no great big spiders are coming in (apparently mating season), I am on the look out for them in my house (none of that behaviour in my house I have you know:rotfl:)

Euuugh the spiders at the mo are huge I hate them we had one run accross the lounge the other day :scared1:

Off into town shortly and hopefully will have a nice relax tonight with a glass of rose before were off to WDW 09:thumbsup2

Hope your son has a fab time Bev. I loved Hong Kong when we went a few years ago & have always wanted to go to Thailand. He will soon be back.

Karen - hope you have a spider free day! :)

Have a fab time Kerry. Hope to bump into you. ::yes::

It's raining here too - so grey & cloudy. :sad2: I am having another easy day, doing boring stuff such as car insurance shopping. :faint: Also waiting for these stupid idiots to ring me about my car.

Morning everyone - raining here as well :headache:

Been to Curves and worked up a sweat and sat looking on internet for a dress for a black tie do in a few weeks ;)

I do have on that has only been worn once bit I want a new one ;)

Its wet here too:sad2::sad2:.

having a hard day, I have to produce the accounts for our local toddler group. It is my 1st year doing them and I'm lost. I have everything I need, receipts, bank statements, and it all balances, its the setting out and writing the report I'm confused about. My friend is coming over later to help. She used to work in a bank so hopefully it will be easy for her. The good news is once I've done it, I can pass it over to someone else for next year as Ebony is in school now so I don't go to toddler group now.

Party wall and chimney removal consent stuff. We have a shared chimney with them at the back of the house that we want to remove and I would like their consent in writing and I know the builders need it.
I'm not worried about the neighbours on that side, it's the neighbours on the other side I worry about a bit, they've been left unhappy with an extension on the house on the other side of them and I think their guard is up a bit. I don't want to get into them appointing surveyors etc, they are our favourite neighbours to be honest and I don't want any atmosphere between us.
After speaking with the builder and surveyor last night we will probably need full planning rather than permitted development and therefore our work may not commence until the new year anyway.

Good luck with your neighbour Karen:)

Thanks Joanne! :thumbsup2 Tho' TBH I can't see the work starting on schedule after all. After this afternoon's 'walk-thro', it became clear that a couple of things might hold up the project.

Firstly, the surveyor's inability to keep to any kind of timetable! :headache: We really NEED those calculations asap and he's on hols next week... I have begged him to prioritise the ones for the extension but I'm not holding my breath...

Secondly, we need to arrange to move the gas meter which is located in the soon-to-be-demolished garage! It took 3 phone calls before I got hold of the correct people to contact (Scotia Gas, of course!!) and I've duly submitted the online form and am waiting to hear back from them... Of course, this all makes the 'going on hols' thing feel extremely poorly timed but what can you do..?

T hanks Claire, he is looking forward to his adventure. He is still flying at the moment, another 2 hours 40 of his 12 hour flight. Seems like he has been flying for ages, set off at 4 am and still travelling, pretty meaty day. I am hoping he has slept on the plane, made him pick a seat by a window so he could rest a pillow on the wall. He usually doesn' t sleep. The other son is down in Doncaster, going to Leeds in the morning. Hubbie is finishing tiling ensuite floor so I am all alone.

Morning all :)

I hope everyone who is waiting for gcse results today gets the result they were hoping for :wizard:

im not in the mood for work today, i feel its gonna be a long day

Afternoon all. Hope you having a good day. :goodvibes

I have been printing off the last of our holiday documents today. We are staying at the Hilton Hotel the night before and I booked it last November using Tesco Clubcard vouchers, however a week or so before we go (ie now) we are due to receive the voucher needed at check in, it hasn't arrived to date so I called Hilton to chase it only to be told that they never recieved my Tesco vouchers in November! :scared1: After lots of calls it is kind of sorted & hopefully I will receive it Tuesday/Weds...phew, I am so glad I called to check!

Mr Fed Ex also arrived this morning with my cruise documents! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

What a nightmare :scared1:having to sort the vouchers out again Claire .
You must have been very excited when the cruise tickets arrived :woohoo:
