Geen Yight - She's Out of Sight: A Trip of Leaps and Bounds

Congrats on your last school day. I hope you have a great summer.

Love the parade pics. I always seem to miss the afternoon parades since we take midday breaks. I need to check one out some day.

Hello from Switzerland!

We are just getting settle in at our apartment, but soon, I plan to begin DISing normally again.

I hope all is well with you and that you are getting excited about your upcoming trip!

Hello there, Julie from Switzerland!
I have enjoyed seeing your FB pictures. I hope your time there is wonderful.

P.S. I don't think we have big forks in our lakes here. Is that for big sea monsters that are out there?

It is great hearing from you, and I look forward to your report.

She had some very cute pictures of Claire on FB.

And then there was this giant fork sticking up out of a lake....

That is a problem with some of the parades - they are held during that prime midday pool/nap time. Sometimes Jill will go back to the room and nap with the girls, and I'll stay at the park to get parade pictures and go back a little later, just enough to prop my legs up a little while before we get out again for the evening.

For those of you who love the webcams, here's one that's going at Polynesian right now. I'm listening to the castle show and the sound of the boat whistle. :cool1:

And now we come to one of my fondest memories of this trip.

Getting off at the Contemporary?

Nope.

Moving on.

IMG_1577.jpg

You may know how much I love the atmosphere of the tropical resorts. I want to stay at Old Key West, Caribbean Beach, and Polynesian, because I love being immersed in the greenery and pretty flowers and all of the beachish stuff.

Jill decided to take Bella back to the room for some rest, and Brooklynn, Kay, and I went to sit on the beach.

This is where they get the phrase lucky duck. What a life they have hanging out at the Poly all day!

IMG_1579.jpg

The Bird of Paradise always lets me know I am at the Poly.

Kay and I crashed out on beach chairs while Brooklynn played in the sand.

The weather was perfect, the wind was blowing the palm fronds, and the water was lapping on the shore. The view was gorgeous. My sweet four year old granddaughter was writing in the sand, occasionally stopping to chase a seagull or just float around the beach. I was getting to spend time talking with a good friend who I rarely see here at home.

Except for the fact that Jill wasn't in the beach chair on the other side and Bella wasn't following Brooklynn, it was just one of those perfect moments in time. Just as I am listening now to the sounds of the boats going by (on the webcam), I was listening to the same that day - in person. I so needed to be away from the stresses of school, and being here enjoying this nothingness combined with this beauty was just glorious.

Thank you, little feathered one, for letting me share your beach for a few minutes. I really needed that.

Next up: Poly has stores, right? ;)

That sounds like a PERFECT rest on the beach. :thumbsup2

What time is our O'Hana dinner on the 4th?

It's been great here so far. DH starts work tomorrow, so we'll see how Claire and I do on our own...

That big fork is crazy! Even crazier is that it just looks normal to me now after seeing it every day.

Thanks MeMom and Sheree. We WILL get back to Disney soon! :) My mind is set on it.

Love the Poly photos and your description too MeMom. I love those extra special magical moments on Disney trips. The ones that really make you forget your cares and feel so blessed to be in such a wonderful place with those we love. :)

What a lovely time at the Poly after a lovely time at the parade! Sounds like a pretty perfect afternoon to me! I find that too where there are certain moments during vacations where you just find yourself realizing how perfect your life is at that time! For me it was on the trip I took with my mum last spring and we had just watched Wishes and I was so happy that her and I just sat on the curb on Main Street and hugged and I was all crying and sappy! Those moments are what life is made for. I'm glad you had one that day! :) That makes me happy to hear.

I feel the same way! I  anything tropical..... the music, scenery, flora, smells, flavors and the laid back atmosphere. I love it all! We are planning to stay at CBR this year and I am so excited. It may have to be cut for budget reasons in favor of Pop, but I am holding out hope until the end! I think the only places I would like to stay even more would be Beach Club and the Poly! One day!

Your afternoon at the Poly sounds heavenly. I'm a big fan of those kinds of "soakin' it all in" activities. I'm planning on having more of those on my next trip and less go, go, go. I didn't even realize that there were seagulls at the Poly. I have never seen them there before. That really makes it seem like the ocean, doesn't it?

I couldn't get the webcam link to work.... wonder what I'm doing wrong?

It's not really a link, try copying and pasting it in your browser window. It worked for me doing that. I'd love to be sitting on that beach right now....

The Poly is still my favorite resort. Every time I see pictures of it......:goodvibes

I have always said that if I believed in reincarnation, I would want to come back as a bird, duck, or squirrel that lives in Disney World. What a life, huh?

I would so love to be sitting there on that beach right now. Thank you for a lovely "getaway."

I posted the pictures of our lunch for you on my tr. :goodvibes

Thanks for that link- I just finished watching Wishes :goodvibes

Thanks for the link. I needed some Poly time tonight. I wished I had a Mai Tai instead of my Diet Coke with Lime but the boat whistles, EWP and Wishes more than made up for it. :goodvibes

Such an idyllic interlude with Brooklyn and Kay. This is the good stuff. And you are doubly blessed to be able to enjoy it not only for the moment itself, but also for the memory you were making.

I love your pics of the gulls. The monochromatic scheme is so soothing. If you ever do a beach room, you should include some of these.

Thanks for sharing the live feed link with us! I enjoyed it!

I watched Wishes tonight and it was so fun!

I was picturing myself right there at my favorite place! ;)

I completely agree...the tropical/ beach theme resorts are absolutely the best at Disney!

I would love to stay at any of them...and someday I will! :thumbsup2

LOVE the pics of Poly you shared today!

Just gorgeous!!! :goodvibes

I can't imagine a better way to spend some time than sitting on the beach on a lovely day.

I'm deffinitely in for some Poly shopping!!!:yay:

What time is our O'Hana dinner on the 4th?

I'm pretty sure it is 6:20.

That big fork is crazy! Even crazier is that it just looks normal to me now after seeing it every day.

Two years of looking at that, and the forks back here are gonna be really disappointing.

Enjoy your day at home with Claire. The playdates will be fun. :)

Another of my favorite moments ever was when Brooklynn was little and she and I would go out and see the Pop Century ducks and rabbits in the morning. She would toddle around in her little nightgown, and she was so fascinated by seeing those animals up close. The simple things definitely make their marks sometimes.

What a perfect, relaxing moment in time!

Enjoying the webcam right now too!

It was. I almost 'Aaaaaah!' out loud every time I think about it.

I watched EWP and Wishes. Good stuff!

Whenever we have our DIS meet, we'll make it at the Polynesian or one of the other resorts with a beach theme.

Sorry about that link. I just copied it and stuck it on here. Stephanie's advice works, I guess, because I know others did end up watching the webcam. I hope you can try it again today.

It's not really a link, try copying and pasting it in your browser window. It worked for me doing that. I'd love to be sitting on that beach right now....

If you know how to make it a simple 'click on it' link, go for it. I thought what I did would do that, but I'm not good on computers. Thanks for helping everybody that didn't know how to get to it. I think a lot of us enjoyed Wishes last night. :wizard: I liked how close to the water they had the camera. I love that sound.

The Poly is still my favorite resort. Every time I see pictures of it......

I have always said that if I believed in reincarnation, I would want to come back as a bird, duck, or squirrel that lives in Disney World. What a life, huh?

Ducks get to pool hop, so I'd probably choose duck.

I want to stay at Poly someday. I wish I had a room there for the Fourth. We'd watch fireworks and walk back to the room. Very nice. ::yes::

Ahhhh....relaxing on the Poly beach!

That's what I think every time I go back to that afternoon. :)

That time spent at the Poly beach sounds absolutely perfect!

It was. We just sat there and talked about how nice it was to be away from work. ;) I like seeing Kay be able to have fun and relax, too, because that is a very rare thing for her.

I would so love to be sitting there on that beach right now. Thank you for a lovely "getaway."

I posted the pictures of our lunch for you on my tr.

You are welcome. I will check your TR sometime today or tonight. I'll be at a workshop all day. Boo. :headache:

Thank you for sharing your nearly perfect moment.

Excited to shop at the Poly shoppes!!

I have a PD day today, so maybe we'll shop tonight or tomorrow. :thumbsup2
