Geen Yight - She's Out of Sight: A Trip of Leaps and Bounds

I love BouTiki, it always seems especially happy and festive in that store! (Admittedly, I also love that store because of its proximity to the Macadamia Nut Pineapple pancakes...)

I like that it has different things - not just Disney World souvenir-type stuff, but pretty dresses and purses and regular clothes.

Hi everyone: I wanted to give an update on Baby O. This is from his grandpa:

There's actually little news today, which is good! Dad came home last night and spent the night, saw some friends, got some things from the house and returned this morning. As of yesterday O had his first poop, a few days after his first wee. All to the good. He is able to spend some time out of the ventilator, breathing on his own. He seems to cycle through several hours of good, then an "event" in which they have to intervene, but that is why we are grateful for a terrific NICU (neonatal ICU) and the staff is reassuring that they have things under control. Mom was discharged from the hospital Saturday but they got a low-cost room, partially funded by WalMart, in a wing of the hospital. Kinda like Ronald McDonalds except handier. Mom got to hold O for a few seconds while they were getting ready to change him. So it's still challenging emotionally for Mom and Dad but the trendline seems to be up. We are totally in One-Day-At-A-Time mode. Thanks for everyone's concerns and prayers!

Many prayers are being said for this baby and his family. Thanks for keeping us posted. It is so nice that his Mommy can be right there close. I know they have a long road, but doctors can work wonders these days!

Okay, I think I am finally caught up on the ten pages I missed while I was gone! I skimmed quickly, though.

I am glad no one noticed my two misbehaving. I did tell my mom that I felt better knowing everyone had children or dealt with children there.

It was about Macon that they started picking on each other on the way down. Overall, they got along pretty well except when Chelsea told Connor his sand castle moat looked bad. I guess for a week away that was pretty good. Although, Chelsea -- the one who kept insisting she wanted a relaxing beach vacation -- was the one who every day was like, "What are we doing? When are we doing it? What's for lunch? What's for dinner? What are we doing next?" She couldn't seem to grasp we were on island time and doing whatever we wanted whenever we felt like it. My mom said it was because I had trained her to think in touring plans.

Hurray for being done with school although I feel so bad about your student, MeMom.

Not too much longer until your next trip, right?

Now that Chelsea got her much wanted beach vacation, maybe she'll be more up for her next Disney trip where there are more things to do than can be done. I am glad you guys had a good time, though. That little cottage was very cute.

Not much longer. As a matter of fact, I think we have backed it up several hours. Instead of leaving midmorning of the 1st, I think Jill and John have both worked out to be off that day, so we're going to leave earlier so the girls can sleep a lot of the way. :cool1:

Getting all caught up! Love the parade pictures. I just love a Disney parade!
Aww, I too would love to stay at the Poly one day. It looks like Brooklyn had a great afternoon on the beach!

I have never been in the gift shops at the Poly! I know...
I love that Lilo and Stitch picture frame. It may have to make its way back to Ohio in a few weeks.

Ooo, we are getting so close!!!

You have to right that shopping issue on this trip. Trader Jack's upstairs has a bunch of stuff for kids and the more typical souvenir stuff. They usually have a good selection of CD's, too. Bou-tiki has a lot of clothes and some nicer things.

......love the shopping picks....... I feel a real need to go to POLY right this instant!!!

Mmmmn! I like cocconut...will have to try those. Cute packaging.

Great towel with the Mickey & Donald tiki's on it!

Lexi was laughing at me the other night at how excitted I was at watching the web cam.
She didn't get it...glad there was several of us watching together.

I tell her how many days we have til we go every morning and she says it's still so long away.
We are very close to double digits!!!
I'm going to have to plan something fun for Saturday night to celebrate the 100 day mark.

I just relalized I didn't change my ticker...we are leaving on the 19th now! Whoot! Whoot!

Welcome back CharlestonPrincess....I hope to hear all about it.
A beach vacay is very different from a Disney one.... funny comment about the touring plans.

I have to admit when I go to the beach, I am the same way as Chelsea.
I can't just sit there all day.
I mix in a little shopping, sight seeing, swimming and eating.
Kinda like a touring plan without the waiting in lines and having to be at a certain place at a certain time.

I'm a little afraid of a normal vacation now, as I think I would be wondering what we would do, too. And of course everything would have to be paid for individually, so the money starts adding up on those trips, and I start comparing that to a Disney trip where there is so much to do.

I'm not getting a live feed on that camera today. Just a recorded thing and a repetitive commercial, so I turned it off. Let me know if it starts working again.

The Poly pictures were wonderful. The best of two worlds, the beach and with a view of MK.

Once again I loved all the shopping pictures.

Yep, it doesn't get much better than that!

Sounds good to me, except I have to ask one thing...Are you calling me a hippo?

Most assuredly not. We had a cute little hippo at our Rainforest Cafe. Poor guy had an untimely death in the flood. I hope he comes back with the rebuild.

Love the Poly pictures! The atomosphere there is great. What a pretty waterfall.

I can hardly walk by that waterfall without taking a picture, as you may have noticed from the hundred pictures I have from past Poly trips.

Sometimes you simply need to stop and put your toes in the sand.

DH and I ate at O'Hana in April and we just adore the Poly. Everything about it says relaxation to us. I hope you are able to stay there one day MeMom!

Yes, it was so relaxing and so peaceful. I could have wasted another hour just sitting there talking and watching Brooklynn prance around.

I think we'll get at least one night or maybe even two one of these days. Maybe we'll get lucky and get a good discount one of these days.

So glad to hear Baby O is holding his own. Continued prayers for the little guy. :goodvibes

Shopping at the Poly is fun. I still have to get there during daylight hours to get a picture of the tiki peeking in the window at Bou'tiki. :rolleyes1

I really need to explore the Poly sometime!

Those little coconut patty things look like something my parents might really like. I don't mind the taste of coconut, but I can't stand the texture :upsidedow

Whew! I'm finally caught back up on this report. I'm afraid I had to skip a whole lotta chatter. Looks like you're getting close to the end, I'm so glad I'm not going to miss out on anymore. I'm enjoying seeing those precious girls enjoying their trip. I'm loving the shopping pictures too.:thumbsup2

MeMom I hope you're enjoying your much deserved break from school as you get ready for the next trip. How many more days before y'all leave?

I like those Disney glasses.

Did you happen to see Wish bracelets in the Poly gift shop? I wanted to pick some up before I moved but didn't get around to it. I would ask my dad to go check for me but he's always working and doesn't have time to go just check for a bracelet.

I love the pics of poly...I may have to sneak away from my family to take a look as no one else has a desire to stay or go there :confused3
We are getting close, how long till you all leave???

I am lurking...not saying much but I am here enjoying the trip report!

Bitten by the I-wanna-ticker bug Know what I mean?

Yes, I do. I was having inner anxiety until I got all of our trips on the books this year.

So glad to hear Baby O is holding his own. Continued prayers for the little guy.

I have that picture somewhere. Too cute. I love looking back at Poly pictures and feeling like I am there in that pretty lobby or maybe sitting out on the swing at the beach.

I think coconut is one of those foods that people either like or don't like - there's not much middle ground. I like it. I used to make a coconut cake with Eagle Brand and Coco Lopez that is soooo good, but since I am the only coconut eater in the family, I stopped. :sad1:

I hope you get to spend some time walking around the Polynesian. There are some nice shops, beautiful flowers, and that pretty beach view toward the castle.

I got up in the hot attic this morning and threw down a bunch of stuff. I have been sorting through it all morning, and I have three big garbage bags of junk to get rid of. I feel very productive for this first part of the day.

I will look. Maybe I can text you while we're there.

If you get those 3D-type cups, I would recommend handwashing them. Sometimes they bubble up in the dishwasher. Not always, but Jill has had a couple do that.

Three weeks from Friday! :dance3:

You would enjoy walking around there, even if you are alone. As a matter of fact, you will be able to see a lot more if you are alone, so that's not a bad thing.

Oh my! I see so much I would love to have, but I think I'll have to settle for just pictures.:sad1:

I need to look back at my pictures, but we may have gone to the Poly Beach close to the same time as you. It would have been fun to have a surprise meeting with you and some of your crew. Abby just adores Brooklyn:lovestruc

I have been trying to catch up on this report (among others) & I still have quite some pages to go.

It was great "talking" to you while we were away. Now I need to go back to reading...

Hi all! Back from Sam's Club where I got some munchies for our road trip. :thumbsup2 We leave July 2nd and are meeting MeMom, Jill and crew at O'Hana for an awesome meal & fireworks on the 4th!!! :yay:

I also got Disney gift cards there!!! A $100 gift card is $98 PLUS you get a $10 Disney Shopping card with each $100. :thumbsup2 I'm using them for our O'Hana meal plus my Disney shopping. I think it's a pretty great deal to spend $298 and have $330 worth of Disney dollars to spend!!! :woohoo: Plus, that also helps budget, as that's my O'Hana meal plus my mad money at DTD.:banana:

So that store is named after the the Burl Ives in Summer Magic. I never saw that before! He is the proprietor in the town in Maine where the family goes to live.. I love these small new disney knowledge!

Arrgh! I've been craving a Dole Whip for days now, ever since the relaxing-on-the-beach update. My favorite Poly beach lounging includes Wishes + Dole Whip. Then your fun Bou-Tiki pics reminded me of my favorite treat again. You were sooo close! My little addiction is why I primarily window-shop at Poly: Can't go in when I'm always dripping pineapple slush. At least it's easier on the pocketbook that way.

Also, glad to hear the good news about tiny Baby O. We're all pulling for that family.

:)....looking at the shopping pics this morning!

I'm tired this morning, I really could use a cheery pick me up.

I spent last evening until 10:30pm at the hospital emergency with my DMom.
She is okay, thankfully.
She was riding Lexi's bike down a hill and the brakes locked up causing her to go over the handle bars face into the cement.
Luckily a neighbour walking her dog saw her fall and came to her.
She had a huge bump on her head, scraped knee and she thought she broke her arm.
I came home from work imediately and took her to the hospital.
After an xray they couldn't find anything broken so we were relieved for that.
Went home with some pain meds and she is wearing a sling for the time being.
Could have been alot worse.

FRIENDS THIS IS A REMINDER TO ALWAYS WEAR A BIKE HELMET!!!! :thumbsup2

I had to come in very very early this morning to finish the work I left behind yesterday when I left.
So with little sleep I will trudge through the day....oh I long to be in the happiest place on earth. :goodvibes

Osh Popham. I love that movie, "Summer Magic." It was one of my favorites growing up!

I love all of those mugs especially the first one that you took for Dawn. I didn't find that one when we were there in April. Although, we weren't very serious about shopping this last trip.:rolleyes1 I will have to rectify that in October!:thumbsup2

You must be getting very excited for your upcoming trip! It's less than three weeks away, right?

:banana::yay::woohoo:
