Happy Easter everyone!

Just dropping by to wish everyone a Happy Easter! :grouphug:

I have to go back and catch up, not exactly sure where I left off because I bookmarked in a different place than a sticky note I had left on my computer. :surfweb:

It was getting hot and we were pressed for time yesterday, so we didn't even make it over to the African Savannah part of the zoo. We did get a yearly membership, though. With an educator discount, it really paid off. I can take one guest free, and so can Jill, so we met Trent and Tanya back up at the front gate when they got there, and they both got in free. Members don't have to pay to park, either, so that saved the $5 for each car. You get 10% off gift shop purchases, so the girls' souvenirs were a tad bit cheaper. We will get 10% off any meals we eat, too. Anyway, since we got the passes, w eknow we can go back any time and see the giraffes and elephants that we missed on that loop.

I sneak that little Disney touch in at school when I can. :wizard:

Hope you had a great service. It was a wonderful weekend for us.

Happy Easter everyone!

It was pretty, then cloudy, then rainy, then pretty, then rainy, and now sunny again here. We were able to do the girls' eggs outside.

Happy Easter Everyone!

Same to you and your sweet family!

Glad you got time to join in for a while. Happy Easter to you, as well.

Yesterday, we enjoyed a nice (and more leisurely than the school field trip) visit to the zoo.

Waiting in line for the gate to open.

This white cheeked gibbon was having a good time swinging back and forth.

Easter2011004.jpg

The meerkats are a favorite of many.

Easter2011006.jpg

Brooklynn had to go into the observation tube, of course.

Easter2011007.jpg

I personally do not like the observation tube. ;)

Easter2011008.jpg

The whole knees bending backwards thing fascinates me.

Easter2011010.jpg

There were papier mache eggs for many of the animals.

Thanks!
I bet Easter in Disney World would be a little better, but this one was pretty good. :goodvibes

Bella loved the mingos and chose one for her souvenir.

Easter2011035.jpg

No, not one of those, silly... :upsidedow

She got a furry one and a cute little purse in the gift shop later.

A large pretzel was a shared snack.

Easter2011038.jpg

Bill is one of the people who came to our school a few months ago with the Wildlife on Wheels program.

There is a large building called The Unseen World that has lots of spiders and snakes and assorted fish and frogs and some bats.

Easter2011039.jpg

Even the bats had special Easter eggs.

Easter2011040.jpg

An anaconda.

Easter2011041.jpg

I tried to get a better shot of the frog than I had on Wednesday.

Easter2011042.jpg

Not really so good, but a clearer picture of the leaves.

This is called a green waxing frog, I think.

It was very crowded, and it was getting hot. We were pressed for time if we were going to eat and make the movie, so we didn't make it around to the African Savannah loop. We have annual passes now, though, so we will go back plenty of times over the next year and see them.

Time to choose our gifts before we leave.

Easter2011050.jpg

Would Brooklynn fall in love with the meerkats?

Easter2011051.jpg

I'm telling you, this girl is in heaven in a zoo gift shop. Her eyes light up at all of those stuffed animals.

I pretended for a moment that I was in the Ziwadi gift shop,

Easter2011053.jpg

while Brooklynn pretended for a moment that she was a giraffe.

Easter2011054.jpg

See those cute little tigers over there on the right-hand side of the picture. They are secretly purring in the pretend giraffe's ear.

As soon as I saw Brooklynn's face when she saw them, I knew they were going home with us.

Here is Brook with Icy Snowflake and Rajah.

Easter2011055.jpg

Trent is in the background wondering how much longer it will be until we eat. We were waiting for Bella to make her purchase.

Bella chose a mingo and a puhse.

Easter2011056.jpg

We decided to go to Red Robin to eat. The food was good, but the very large hamburger I got had to be eaten in two shifts - half at the restaurant and half at home later on.

From there, we went to see African Cats. It was very good, but a bit of a tearjerker in a couple of spots. One spot, in particular, when Layla (or Leila) goes off to take her last breaths. I did have tears, because she had just left her baby girl to go off to die. The filming was amazing, and it is very worth seeing.

At home afterward, the girls decorated our Easter cake for Sunday.

Easter2011060.jpg

Easter2011059.jpg

Then we took potato soup, bread, ham and rolls, and cake to Brandy and Sloan and got to see new baby Micah.

Doesn't Jill look good holding this sweet baby boy?

Easter2011061.jpg

The kids had a good time playing.

Easter2011064.jpg

Easter2011065.jpg

Luckily, Joan had finished this before her wreck.

Easter2011066.jpg

Easter2011067.jpg

Still looks good, doesn't she? ;)

I'm giving her one more year without aggravating her about another baby, because Bella is still a baby,

but I never said I wouldn't still be dropping hints before the aggravating officially started. :rolleyes1

Taking a break now. In a little while, Easter pictures.

Great zoo pictures! Looks like you had a wonderful time together as a family. We love having passes to the Indy zoo. We've had one for the past 2 years. 2 trips and it pays for itself. I anticipate more trips this summer since Owen is a little older and I feel more comfortable taking them by myself.

I hope you have had a Happy Easter!
I love the eggs at the zoo. Such a cute idea and I bet it was fun to watch the animals see what the Easter Bunny had brought them.

The great thing about the annual passes is that we can also get into many other zoos for free or for a reduced price.

I loved seeing the picture of the kids today on FB. :)

Looks like a super fun day. Both girls made excellent souvenir decisions!

They were both very satisfied, and neither one of them spent over twenty dollars. :thumbsup2

I'm just chillin' now and enjoying catching up on the DIS. I think we need Monday off, too, don't you?

Happy Easter MeMom and Jill!!! Hope the girls had fun!!!

I believe they did. :goodvibes

Okay, last pictures from this weekend, and then back to the report.

We had some visitors for this afternoon's Easter dinner.

Easter2011068.jpg

Did you notice who was hiding in the grass? ;)

All these guys came prepared for April showers, which we did get on and off all day.

Easter2011069.jpg

The rolls and the macaroni salad hadn't made it to the table yet, but here's the rest of it.

Easter2011070.jpg

Easter2011071.jpg

Right before we started to eat, Tanya got a call from work saying she was supposed to come in, but she said she knows she wasn't on the schedule. She went on in anyway, but she said she took a phone picture of the new schedule just to have a back-up of what she knew.

The guys fixing their plates.

Easter2011072.jpg

Drew was here, too. His girlfriend, Maggie, had come by for a few minutes, but she had to go eat with her family and then go to work. I should have thought to get a picture of them together.

Easter2011073.jpg

I just noticed that Drew's plate was surrounded by tools. So appropriate for him. I guess he just cleared off a spot on the table where he had been piddling around with who knows what.

The girls hunted eggs that were painted like insects, so they used nets to catch them. Bella didn't quite get it at first. She picked them up with her hands, put them into the net, then dumped them in the bucket. :cutie:

Easter2011074.jpg

Easter2011075.jpg

Easter2011076.jpg

Aren't these cute?

Easter2011077.jpg

They came with small packages of candy, most of which I will be taking to school. I opened the packages and a pack of M&M's and put two pieces of candy in each egg, so they didn't have too much.

Shortly after the egg hunting, Jill's crew needed to head home. John has been gone a week, and he was anxious to get home. It will be good for them to have some nice relaxing family time at home this evening before they start a new work week.

We had a very nice weekend together with family and friends. I forgot to mention that Brandon and Jarvis met us at the movie yesterday, too.

I think we only have about six weeks of school left. That's sounding pretty good to me. Six more Sunday evenings to spend fighting off the 'Monday morning is almost here' feeling, and then I can like Sunday nights again for the summer. :thumbsup2

I hope you all had wonderful family and friends time today and all of this weekend, as well. :)

Happy Easter! I hope everyone has had a wonderful day!

I apologize for getting so far behind. School got me the week before and then we were gone most of this week for spring break. I can't believe how fast this week went!! I know the end of the year is coming but it still seems so far away...

I have enjoyed catching up and seeing your Animal Kingdom photos. My favorite thing we did over break was go to the National Zoo. We had a blast. I tried to pretend I was in Animal Kingdom! The zoo has nowhere near the themeing of AK but you can't beat the number of animals. We had a partly cloudy day in the mid 70's so it was perfect and all the animals were out and active. We also went to some Smithsonian museums and the National Aquarium in Baltimore. On the way home we stopped at an Outlet Mall and the kids got clothes and shoes. Momma got to shop in the Disney store Outlet.:thumbsup2

I am putting a link here to an online photo album if anyone is interested in our pictures. The zoo is combined with the other things so you may have to click through those if you are not interested. The other little girl in the photos is our niece, Sydney. She's 5 and she and her mom (John's sister) are going to Disney with us in June. We are all excited!! 58 days!!

National Zoo pictures and DC

Oh-I haven't forgotten about the Minnie dress. I have it and some other clothes that I plan on sending for Brooklyn. I got one box and it was too small. Got another and it is too big. So, I am hoping the third time will be the charm.:goodvibes

Have a good week!

Happy Easter! :goodvibes Josh, Kazin, and my uncle just left. We had a good time and now I'm enjoying the last few hours of spring break :sad2: But at least I have an exciting Saturday to look forward to :thumbsup2 I don't think I've ever been this excited for my birthday!

I really think tigers could be my favorite animal, if I have a favorite. Maybe they can be my favorite mammal. :) I like sea turtles, too, although I am not sure why, because sea turtle moms have nothing to do with their kids, so it's weird that I should pick them. Favorite bird - flamingo or pelican.

I love all of the big cats. And little cats. I have three of those ;) Meg and I saw a sea turtle at the aquarium in October. They're so fun to watch!

This is Bill and his little tarantula friend.

Easter2011038.jpg

:scared1: :faint:

I love the little stuffed animals with the rain coats. I have Flower and Marie :)

It looks like you had some nice days with the family. I'm just mad that you guys are wearing shorts and tank tops! We're still wearing fleece and the heater is running!

Looks like a great weekend! Those plastic Easter Eggs are super cute. :goodvibes

I hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday night, even if Monday comes too quickly!

Great pictures of the zoo yesterday. Boy it sounds like you had quite the busy day. The girls look so cute with their new purchases.

Glad to hear African Cats was good although not happy to hear about it being sad. I am anxious to see it though.

Looks like you had a great Easter weekend. I had a very nice day with family.

oh my goodnes..the picture of Bella and her purse are too darn cute! she is getting so big! We had a good easter. my MIL made a wonderful meal and she got all the kids these Melissa and Doug sand toys that are cooking tools (one is an ice cream set and another cupcakes...etc) and got colored sand...the kids were out there almost all afternoon playing! They had a blast! Came home and changed Caleb's diaper and he had purple sand in his diaper. LOL! and my niece also told me he tried to eat some...what can I say...that boy loves his "purple". LOL!

Glad you guys had a nice day!
