Now - wait a minute! If I lost my job: the house, the cars, the bikes, the underwear gets auctioned off before I willingly depart with my DVC!
Here is the scoop: We have 150 pts at BCV. BCV is FANTASTIC - but we do not want to stay there! We bought in when there was only BCV to be had and had no ideas of these boards / resales / demands we could place on DVD / etc! I walked in to this only with a love of WDW vacations and what DVC had to offer. Past that - I was lost!
We tried all the resorts (almost all) - love em all - but love OKW more - it is where we want to vacation! For us - nothing else comes close!
People tried to talk us out of this! But - we only want to stay at OKW and I got burned the last 2 years not having the 11 month window! In addition - I want to say we own OKW - if we plan to stay there for 30+ years (primarily) I feel we should own there (pls stop and read disclaimer which follows)!
NOTE: I am not making ANY accusations with the last statement - no resort wars should begin! The rules of the game are fair and what we have all accepted going in! If you own at xyz and want to stay at abc - god bless you! You are a DVC owner - you do what fit's your lifestyle and point budget! Truth be known - I would own 700 at each of them - but my budget allows one and only one! All I am saying is this: We love OKW, we want to stay at OKW and I want to say I am a proud owner of OKW because I can only afford one and we love it so much.
This is the right decision for us - more importantly - I think it is the right time (due to many factors I will not explore)!!
The current "spread" 'tween the resorts is about $20 per pt. We would be happy to exchange our 150 at BCV for 150 at OKW - but I am thinking we will walk away with 170 to 210 pts (especially if we get a front-loaded contract and can rent 2010 pts out to help with the up-front expense!).
A question to those more point savvy then I: Should I spend MORE money and get multiple contracts? Is that worth the money? Or - do I stick with one?
Let me say - I have one son and one daughter who will eventually inherit this thing! These 2 are the best friends in the world - one is 19 in College - the other 16 in HS. Things change - but I know these 2 and their personalities and I never see the friendship ending (I am very lucky in that regard!)! As a result, I see no issue with joint ownership!
