So I know GCH always wins the versus battle, or so it seems, but I wanted some input from others. We have always stayed at DLH, never the other two resort hotels, so I am curious what others would do.

I have booked a retro rate for Oct 19-23rd at the Hojo's. My sister's birthday is on 10/21, so I was thinking as a surprise, I would do a split stay and book either the PPH or GCH for our last two nights, the 21st and 22nd. I would find a reason to go back and pack all of our things and taxi it over to either of the hotels. A hassle I know, but I know my mom and sister would be so excited when we were going back to the hotel and I steered them towards a resort hotel instead of back to the Hojo's. The last few years, there always seems to be good room only rates during that time, but I am not banking on that fact.

We love staying on site, and in this case, we would be able to take advantage of MM on Sun (if I check in early enough) and Tues. What say you all? Really, we would like to try another of the onsite hotels aside from the DLH, which we love. We have little ones and don't spend a ton of time in the room, but we still like on site. PPH is usually is a great price, but we definitely have wanted to try out the GCH. Help please :)

Is PPH really that bad with the elevators and trying to make it to MM??

Of course I'd choose the GCH (although I haven't been lucky enough to stay there, I know I'd love it). However, we always stay at the PPH, and we have never been disappointed. The only 3 trips we have taken to DL as a family, were all at the PPH. We go back because of the prices and because we love the property. I'm sure it's even nicer now because I've heard the rooms have been upgraded.

We never had elevator issues that I can recall. I always press the buttons for both the glass/concierge & regular elevators. Whichever comes first, is the one we take!

If you can afford GCH then go for that!

I have stayed at GCH & PPH and, IMO, PPh is too far away from everything.

Given the choice between HOJO's and PPH, I would take HoJo's. Love HOJO'S !!

If you can afford the Grand, I highly recommend it. We only stay when we have enough DVC points. It so convenient, the pool is gorgeous and I love the look of the hotel. We've stayed at Paradise Pier many times and it's nice as welll, just a little further away. My youngest loves the waterslide there. We haven't stayed at the Disneyland Hotel in about 10 years but the remodel looks wonderful, especially the pool.

I guess it just comes down to what you want to spend and the ambience your look for...

Have fun!

Thanks All for the input! I'm definitely leaning towards GCH for sure. We usually stick with DLH because it's so Disney, but it would be nice to stay a little closer. I don't think we'll do it it if the rates are too high. I'm willing to spend money, but a discount would be preferred ; )

Then again, in two weeks, I'm taking a kidless trip and staying at the hojo for the first time, do I may love that! I definitely love the price!!

I would go for GCH!!! Hojo's is a very nice hotel but also a very basic one IMO. There is no comparison between GCH and Hojo. Hojo is more motel than hotel. It's right next to the freeway. There's not much onsite in the way of shopping and dining, but the grounds are nice. PPH is ok but nothing I'd ever go out of my way to return to. I just tried it for the first time last month and was not very impressed, but then we had a standard room overlooking the parking lot and the whole pool area was closed off so no pool, spa, etc. I did not want to walk over to DLH to use the spa  I have seen pictures of the resort view from some of the PPH rooms and it looks gorgeous, so that might sway my opinion. I just don't find anything there to lure me back, though. I'm not terribly concerned about the view but I do like nicer amenities and grounds. PPH is a definite grade below DLH or GCH in that respect. Small things make a difference to me! I like granite and marble, my drinking glasses made out of glass, robes in the closet. PPH does have nice bath items and cute furniture but it's nothing like DLH or GCH as a hotel.
