Is it true that only GCH patrons can use the entrance into CA? I have been told that other people staying on site can utilize it also. THis is old info. does anybody have any experience with this recently? TIA. Tina:confused3

We have never used it first thing in the morning so can't answer for opening, but we always use this entrance when we park at the GCH. We've never been stopped and asked for room keys or anything like that.

Not anyone can use it all the time. . .

They are very strict about it first thing in the mornings. They will restrict entry to guests of the three DLR hotels (GCH, PPH, DLH). The only exception to this rule is if you are staying off-site and have eaten breakfast at Storyteller's, you can show your receipt, and be allowed through the DCA private entrance.

Late morning/early afternoon they begin allowing anyone to use the entrance. And anyone can use it to exit the parks at anytime.

Make sure to say hi to Chappy at the entrance if he's there. He's a sweet, sweet CM and a real Disney Treasure. :lovestruc

This was my experience as well.

We've stayed at the Paradise Pier twice & used the GCH entrance into DCA twice early in the morning (& several times in the afternoon). They were turning away people (prior to Gen. Adm. opening) who didn't have one of the DLR Hotels (or restaurants) receipt.....maybe folks walking in from Annabel or one of those other hotels at that corner near the GCH/PP.

:)

Wow, I've never experienced being turned away before, but then again I always end up using the GCH entrance/exit in the afternoon.. so that is most likely why. Thanks for the info. Are they going to use this entrance when they are doing the expansion ??

The expansion is happening at the other end of that wing, and hasn't affected the DCA entrance.

We had a CM try to turn us away when we were returning to the park from dinner at Storytellers. It was weird because we even showed him our receipt and explained that we had come out this way for dinner and were just going back in but he was insisting that we had to have a GCH room key and nothing else would do. We made him get a supervisor who straightened things out but it was really odd. He was quite hostile which is not something we encounter in the parks a lot.

What a shame :( Atleast everything got straightened out though :confused3 Maybe he just didn't know any better, thats what I'm hoping for.

Thanks avalon 451 !! Just wanted to make sure ;)

I was turned away too when I went w/ my friend, but we went in the morning which is different than going later at night. But the weird thing was that the CM wasn't very nice either and that made me mad.

Does anyone know if you would need the hotel receipt thing that you need to show for MM to go through the hotel DCA enterance? Bc the CM said that we needed to show a room key to go through, but I don't know if it's been changed or not. If I don't need the extra paper, I can just bring my hotel key all the time. Muahahahaha........:rolleyes1

I would think that you would need the piece of paper since the key is disposable (& doesn't provide the info proving your DLR lodging for THAT day).

But it's only needed before 10am ish. After DCA opens, anyone can come or go thru this exit (& do).

Thanks ev1. I was sure that I had read on the boards that if staying on site a person could use the entrance.DBF swears that only GCH guests can use it. So.....mark another win for Tina, muuuaaaaahhhhaaa!

We have used it, in the mornings we only used it when staying at GCH or PP but we have used it after eating at Whitewater Snacks and in the evening after returning from DTD. They never asked for our room key, no matter when we used it.

Ahh yes, Chappy will be more than happy to thoroughly check your bag before letting you into the park!

Hey Tina, I've read over on MP that they have done away with the security bag check at the GCH entrance. I'm thinking Chappy may just be scanning tickets and schmoozing with the guests now. ;) I'll be sad if he's been relocated.

BTW, aren't you supposed to be seeing our boyfriend soon? I know you wouldn't be holding out details on me if you've already seen him.

Hi Callie! I'm leaving tomorrow morning. The plan is to be on the road by about 6, so we can be in the park by noon. We couldn't get the Entertainment Rate at Hojos, so we are sadly staying at the Travelodge, with a pretty good rate I got on Priceline or Hotwire. It won't be the same, but I just need a place for a quick sleep this trip.
I'll be seeing our boyfriend Saturday night, and I'll be sure to blow him a kiss for you! I'll report back on the show next week.
I'll also check on Chappy for you. We usually have breakfast at Storytellers on our last morning, so I'll see if he's there.
