WE are staying at gc in January. What view is the best. We have our choice of DTD, DCA upper or DCA Lower. We are staying on points but want the best view possible. Please help I need to book this week.

Thanks
Judy

I would pick a view of DCA. It is great @ night when it is all lit up. The noise from DTD can be very loud. Stay away from that side of the hotel.:smooth:

If you can make the time, when you arrive at the hotel, take 10 minutes to walk around the grounds. The views at GCH vary wildly. Some are literally right above the DTD shops - some people would love that - others wouldn't. Some rooms look at other rooms and I don't think they ever see the light of day. Some overlook rides at DCA. It's a large place and it would help you if you could get the "lay of the land" before check in.

It's a great hotel & there are so many activites going on @ the hotel throughout the day.

I don't know about all the views, but I had a DCA view of Grizzly River Rapids and loved it. It was very peaceful at night after the park closed, but the lights were still on. I felt like I was staying at a mountain lodge!

That sounds cool, Princess! I remember seeing those rooms. Did you ask for that view or just luck into it?

We booked through Expedia and in the request field I asked for a park view room if possible. I didn't think we'd get it since we were paying Expedia rates, but we did! Just shows that it never hurts to ask.

I apologize for the size of these pictures, but am unable to resize them. Here are 2 pictures of the view we had from our room at GC last fall. Our room was near the entrance from the hotel to DCA and faced east. I absolutely loved it! It was terrific in the morning as the sun was coming up behind the mountains. The first is GRR (with the TOT in the background) and the second is the Soarin building with the Golden Gate bridge off to the right.

To look right into the park must have been way cool! Not exactly quiet solitude, but lots of Disney fun!

Actually, missy, since we were there in October it wasn't too noisy. The park opened at 10 and closed at 6, so it was lovely first thing in the morning and at night. My favorite thing to do was go out on the balcony and watch the sun rise. The only noise was the sound of the water from GRR. And it was beautiful at night, with soft lighting and the sound of the water from GRR. I felt like I was the only one in the park and that it was solely mine for just a short period of time!
