Totally agree. There are plenty of people on both sides of this, but if they can save money on salary, water, energy, etc., more power to them!

Personally, I'm not declining housekeeping, at least not right now. I'm not willing to keep dirty diapers in my room for a week, nor would I throw them in a random hallway trash can. Gross.

Like I said, I have never seen it elsewhere. But I do get why some want and others do not. But for those who want it, this is a lose-lose situation for them in the long run. Do you really think that they are going to lower the cost of the rooms if housekeeping is cut sharply? If we buy into DVC, this is something we will adjust to, and that is what Disney wants, everyone to adjust to it.

I've seen it elsewhere, but I wanted housekeeping, so I declined the incentive.

How is this lose-lose for people who want housekeeping? There is currently absolutely NO evidence that anything is changing for them. At all.

I just really don't think this is worth worrying about until some kind of official announcement is made. If Disney announces that that they're going to start charging for housekeeping, THEN I'll start looking for other accommodations. Until then, its business as usual.

Exactly. I agree. Like I said though, it may not work, but I really feel as they are wanting the resorts to go in line with DVC.

I have this attitude based on experience with other hotels doing the same thing. Why do you think that Disney is looking to be a pioneer with charging for housekeeping?

I'm not getting what you are saying.

No, I don't think that the cost of rooms will go down. But I also don't believe that they are going to start charging for basic housekeeping. I don't see them going against the industry standard.

I'm not losing anything. And yes, I would go without housekeeping. I don't have small children and I don't generally make a mess.

Well I have never had this experience before with other hotels. This is a first for me, with the exception of what I know about DVC.

The costs of lodging continues to increase year after year - I'll take any kickback Disney is willing to give me, especially as someone who requests limited housekeeping.

I've never stayed at a hotel that didn't at least offer basic housekeeping. Some have offered points, cash, discount or something if I decline it, but all offer it.

I've never heard of a hotel that didn't provide free basic housekeeping. I'd never stay somewhere that I had to pay for it.

You seem very confused about your point.

No, Disney isn't being a pioneer in offering an incentive to their customers/guests when they decline housekeeping. Many hotels do it.

Yes, they would be if they stopped offering any sort of housekeeping, unless you paid extra for it. No, no one expects them to make this move. This would be going against the industry standard, and not something Disney would pioneer.
