GC Incentive if Housekeeping Declined? Update July 14 - Testing Concluded

my fam is so used to the SPG green program (we hang and reuse our bath towels for a couple of days for extra points) that wherever we stay they automatically assume we aren't getting housekeeping and reuse towels anyway now!:rotfl: I love these incentives, and I'd take the gc in a heartbeat!

The All Stars added them about a year ago. Pop added them this year.

We were at POP in April, no towels at the secondary pools. We don't use the main pool there because there are more kids and it's not a big pool. So that would mean we still have to trek out of our way for towels. I would rather they have carts by the elevators for folks if they go this route. They would also stay dry there under cover.

I like housekeeping when I'm on vacation. I clean, cook and make beds on a regular basis. When I'm on vacation I like coming back to fresh towels, made beds and a cleaned room.

I'm fine with them handing out this incentive. Just don't upcharge for housekeeping when all is said and done. And I also don't think they can maintain this $20 per night for too long.

There is nothing nicer returning to a hotel room with the beds perfectly made ( i cant get them like that myself) but I am thinking 20 bucks are like beers on Disney or 2 pins ( get kids to make beds). So now I ask. Nice bed or beer?

But what everyone has got to remember, at some point the gift card incentive will cease. You will end up having to pay extra for housekeeping. Disney end goal is to have the resorts on the same level of housekeeping as their DVC resorts.

Hi, we stayed at ASMo over the weekend and a GC was offered to us to decline housekeeping. As DVC members, I am used to the lack of housekeeping and always do my own so we accepted the offer. We stayed Sat-Tues and received a $40 GC=$20 for two nights. I must say, I haven't stayed at an All Stars in quite a few years and was troubled by the lack of updating and refurbishment. After staying and noticing the decline, I'm not sure if a GC in place of housekeeping is such a great idea! Are there any plans for a refurbishment to any of the All-Stars? It is desperately needed.

Right, I imagine if you do DVC normally, you are completely accustom to this. Haven't stayed at at All Star since 2005-2007, but that is sad that they are in such need of refurbishment.

Conspiracy theory, though. You've no proof. Other hotels have done this and they haven't ended housekeeping.

True, there is no proof. But there are numerous other posters here and on Facebook who are drawing the same conclusion. But something is in the works, you can't deny that. But I really thought they would end the free shampoos, lotions, ect. that are given each day before they attempt to end the housekeeping.

Do values get those? I thought I read that they didn't anyway. (I never notice- never use those unless I recognize the brand)

I think something is in the works but I just don't think that something is the end of housekeeping. I don't think most people would go for that gift card. Some Solos or cheapos, and people who don't like letting housekeeping in. That's it, and that can't be a high percentage of the guests.

Coming back to a clean room and freshly made bed is one of the best things about a Disney vacation for me. :wizard:

Would you be able to say like I decline housing keeping the first 3 days of my trip I want them to come on day 4 and then not clean days 5 & 6?
I don't think so. I believe at this point, it is all or nothing.

You stayed three nights, but only got a giftcard that covered two nights?

The values do get them, not as much though, I think. You know what, I just remembered, on one of our days this past February, I forgo housekeeping one day.

Yes, value resorts get toiletries.

It does need refurbishment. Our carpet was so tread on that you couldn't make out the stars on it. The giant icons looked faded from the sun. But it seemed clean and every cm we encountered was great!

Any one report for sure if it is going at Pop Century yet? I'm hopeing it is when we are there early,August.
