For those of you who have stayed here....did you opt for a Florida view or the atrium?? I've read some reviews saying the atrium views can be loud..and others who say they were quiet and quite beautiful! :confused3 What is your view if you opt for Florida??? Any chance of catching a fireworks show from Disney in the distance??? :flower:

Thanks for the help.

I have only seen the hotel from outside, but it looks gorgeous! Do you mind sharing what kind of rate you got? We want to stay there, but it seems to be very expensive at $269 a night.

Thank you in advance.

I've stayed here three times, twice through Priceline and once with DH on a convention using a convention rate. We've paid $83, $170(convention rate) and $105 respectively, our last visit being June 4-9.

I would definitely try to get an atrium view. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony people watching and letting DD fall asleep (they have full cribs, btw) while we enjoyed a glass of wine in the evenings. I really want to stay in the Everglades, but each time they've upgraded me to Emerald Bay, which has marble walk-in showers, heavy wood furniture and robes. :cloud9:

I'm so spoiled by this resort that I'm afraid my POR stay for free dining will not measure up!! I guess I'm the unofficial Gaylord Palms cheerleader! :cheer2:

We stayed in the Emerald Bay section last year. We had one room with the atrium view, and the other with the Florida view. Our Florida view was of the pool. Both were nice, and both gave a good feel of the resort. I'd opt for the atrium view for the balcony, though. :)

We just came back from a stay there, and had an atrium view room. There were times when it was loud, but everything quieted down by about 10 pm. I would definetly take an atrium view over the Florida view...often, a FL view is a view of the parking lot. And most of them don't have balconies.

PS - We also got a good rate through Priceline of $90 a night, and got upgraded to Emerald Bay. I loved this place! I am an official cheerleader as well now!

We're going for a conf so the rate is $169/night. When I looked on line and saw the atrium view is usually $264 and the FL view $234...I opted for Atrium right away!!!! :cool1: It was nice to come back to the DIS boards later and see your replies to my msg!!! :flower: I think this hotel sounds really nice. My ds and dd are going to be crazy about the everglades section and the alligators right there in the hotel! I think there will be plenty to keep them occupied while Daddy is in sessions. And who knows, maybe we'll be upgraded to Emerald too!!! Right now I requested Key West so we'd be closer to the kid's pool. Figuring a walk to everglades would make a nice diversion....but when we're coming back from the pool damp we'd want to be closer to our room.

For those of you who have actually stayed there....I am SO looking forward to sitting on the balcony at night!!! This just sounds so lovely. I think I read they have internet access in the rooms. Do you need your notebook to plug into it....or do they supply a basic system for you to browse around???

Thanks again!

We are staying at the GPalms the 1st week of December. DH has a conference. Any other info would be helpful!!!!

I guess I got the "Florida" view when I stayed there. ;) We had two rooms, both overlooking the parking lot. I would have gone with the atrium views, had we known about the balconies. The clerk just mentioned that the rooms would have overlooked Sunset Sams (the big boat) and it could get a little noisy. She asked us if we wanted quieter section so we said, sure and got put into the everglades. Then we kicked ourselves later for not choosing the other rooms. I would have loved to have a direct view of the big boat! It really wasn't all that noisy.

The basic system is there -- keyboard, monitor and all. It was really nice to check park hours, find addresses, check e-mail, etc.

And we LOVED sitting on the balcony at night letting DD fall asleep inside. If you have a baby, they have full-size cribs at no additional charge. Ours showed up not 5 minutes after we'd arrived. Be sure to ask for a room with a tub, depending on the size of your children, if they take baths. All of the king-sized rooms have walk-in marble showers with glass doors.
