Hello all,

It has been a while since I posted, but all of this chatter has made me yearn for another visit to the World.
I called today for AKL (short notice) from 6/4-6/8 and I was happy to get a rate of $138.26 a night. Now, this is a Fla. Resident/AP rate, but last Friday I called and the same Savanah view room was $238.00. I don't get it! No complaints though.
Anyway, I was concerned about the upcoming Gay Pride weekend and crowds that it may bring.I was aware of the Star Wars event and scheduled accordingly. Would anyone know what weekend this event takes place? Thanks for taking the time.

Are you sure that the second quote was for a savannah room (or was I mis-reading your post)?

We're going to be there 6/4-6/8 and the AP rate I was quoted in April was $138.26/night for a standard room and $223.00 for a savannah view. I called yesterday just to see how full the resort was to try and gauge the chances of an upgrade but the CM thought she said she thought it was going to be pretty crowded but to ask at the front desk anyway. Oh well, we still can't wait!

Spudnig,

Gay Days are being held while you're there. Look for the schedule at www.gayday.com.

From vast past exerience, I'd not worry about the crowds, with two notable exceptions: PI will be jammed Friday and Saturday night, and MK on Saturday (June 7) has the ability to get shut due to capacity. Beyond that, I've never had a crowd problem. Look at the schedule, stay away from them, as that's where the crowds will be. In years past, WDW has extended hours in the parks not designated for Gay Day to convince folks to come out. Don't know if they'll do it this year or not.

My schedule while the GD crowds are there: DQuest on Friday, Saturday off (I NEVER go to the parks on a Saturday, so it has nothing to do with GD). Sunday is Epcot, and Monday is MGM. We anticipate nothing more than normal June crowds at those parks on those days.

Yes, I am certain of the rate and view the CR staff quoted. As a matter of fact, I had them verify to be certain. I must have had pretty good timing because i had my assistant call later in the day to try and get a room at that rate for some friends of my wife and... no go. Not even close. I took my confirmation number and made some priority seating arrangements and hung up the phone before someone changed thier mind. ;)

It is by far my favorite resort and I can't wait to get there. Hope the weather holds up.

Pat,

Thanks for the link and subseqent information. We must be running parallel universes. The schedule you follow is almost identical to ours with the exception of DQ. (unless it is raining)

Go Lions!
