i see we'll be there at the same time (at the same resorts as well).

gay days should only affect saturday the 5th at MK. crowds are reported to be quite large, we will be avoiding the MK on that day.

Well, I sure didn't plan that very well now did I! I guess we'll have to pick a different park for the 5th. That's too bad, that was once of the reasons for staying at the Poly those two nights.

Hey Crazywig that's uncanny! Great minds must plan alike:teeth:

Well, I see you in 15 days!!! Meet you at the POLY:tongue:

FWIW, I accidentally went the week after once- and the place seemed still empty from those afraid of any lingering participants.

I doubt that the vast majority of people who visit Disney (except gays) have any idea of when Gay Days is scheduled--we know 'cause we read the DIS boards! (I also doubt there are very many people "afraid of the lingering participants.")

Ouch, sounds a bit like the participants have a disease or something!!

It's very much worth it to go to the MK for Gay Days, no matter what your own orientation is. It's difficult to explain, but it is one of those days when the atmosphere in the park is exceptionally great and festive despite it being very busy.

I was there at the tail end of it last year (and our timing this year will coincidentally put us a week or so after it, I believe), but really, it wasn't a big deal. My younger brother found it hilarious, but to me, it was a total non-issue.

I think that poster was winking at people who might actually think it is a disease, that needs to be avoided. I've been known to be wrong :) but I don't think he has any issue with it himself.

it'll be busy i know several people who are going and as long as you avoid the park of the day (schedule on www.gaydays.com) you won't really be affected that much! oh and just a quickie if you aren't gay don't wear red!!

David

I am pretty sure the schedule is

Friday @ MGM
Saturday @ MK
Sunday @ Epcot

We've been there that weekend and I don't think it effects crowds at MGM or Epcot as much as MK......so MK will be most crowded.:D

I have to agree!:teeth: I just think it is viewed as a "family" event, therefore has the family/festive atmosphere.::yes::

The other thing effecting crowds that weekend.....
Star Wars weekend at MGM.
That is the last weekend for the Garden & Flower Fest. at Epcot.
So where ever you go that weekend you may hit some type of crowds.
One good thing.......it is NOT Grad nights weekend!!!:hyper:
Now that would be too much for me.

Also, AK on Thursday.

DBf's parents are coming up that weekend to go to Epcot on Saturday and perhaps AK on Sunday, and we're really looking forward to going at that time. An extra festive atmosphere sounds even better. :)

Definitely stop to check out how many Red Shirts there are on that Saturday! We have pictures from the 3:00 Parade where EVERYONE on the other side of the Street has a Red Shirt on! Of course - by accident - my Wife, Sister & Mother all were wearing Red Shirts that day too!

MK was busy, but I think they are always busy on Saturdays! Just go & have fun!

to clarify- 'lingering participants' was not my own term- it was an attempt at political correctness overheard in the park at the time that I found amusing...

Gay Day makes the news in Orlando the entire week before.
Good to see people who want to "just be treated equally" need their OWN DAY, isn't it?

Everybody IS equal and we all deserve our own day. There's Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Martin Luther King Day............etc. All these "days" celebrate different groups and each group is proud to be singled out that day.

Everyone has groups of people that they are more comfortable hanging out with, doesn't mean its wrong.

Well said LindaR! It's good to know that there are folks who understand what it's all about!:D

Not sure if comparing "gay days" to National Holidays recognizing war heros is very accurate.

I would compare it to what I refer to as the "Hallmark" holidays......like Secretary's Day, Sweetest Day, etc.

Otherwise I agree with the right to celebrate who they are.:D

We all need to celebrate who we are!!!!
I thank God everyday that we all have different personalities, otherwise it would be an awfully boring world!!

I tell my family every day that I am proud to be who I am, and I am proud of everything they do!!
I don't need a special day for them to say "Happy Mother's Day"....they do it every day by just being themselves!!

GO TO WWW.GAYDAYS.COM IT GIVES ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW. I HAD TO DO THIS FOR A FAMILY THAT IS GOING DOWN JUNE 4-10 AND HAD NO IDEA THAT THIS HAPPENS THERE. THEY WERE QUITE DISAPPOINTED.

Well, when I see them have a Straight White Male Protestant day then I'll consider it as being 'equal' (which shouldn't happen either). I don't think that any ethnic, religious, or sexually oriented group should have a 'special' day in the parks. Disney is there for everyone!

That is just my opinion, however.
