Just curious how gay couples are received if they are wearing Anniversary buttons. I have read dining reviews of special deserts, champagne, etc. My partner and I will be at WDW in September and our 3rd anniversary will be the week after our visit.

I only ask because while we are by no means ashamed of what we are, we aren't a "in your face" type of couple (no offense to them either, just not us)

my bf and I were holding hands walking down main street with mickey top hats on and it got the attention of a dream squad member, who gave us anniversary buttons, wrote 2 years on it for us, and then gave us a VIP meet n greet with cinderella. We wore those buttons everyplace we went for 10 days over xmas. It was amazing. Mrs Clause yelled down happy anniversary to us during the parade from the top of her float. So did the fairy godmother! The talking trash can from Tomorrowland also acknoleged us and in Pirates of the Carribean, the CM yelled across the loading dock to ask how many years. I absolutely loved it, but I'm probably a little more in your face because I feel that when I go to Disney I can feel proud, don't have to be afraid, and I know the CMs have my back(on top of the fact that I AM one)

We also got several cases of special treatment at our dinners, but that was mostly because I had it notated in the reservation system. Free dessert just about everywhere we went, a free picture at California Grill...more things too numerous to name,

Gosh I'm getting all teary eyed thinking about it again. It was by far the most magical and memorable trip I think I'll ever have.

edit: too and to

Get the buttons!

And congrats!

(Hang around here long enough and some extra special Magic might happen!)

Yeah once I'm back as a CP and stationed, gay people can come flock to me and I'm sure I'll make magic for ya :cool1:

WDW is a wonderful, safe place. Sungela's recent experience is definitely the minority. We're not an "in your face" couple either, but at WDW we enjoy some pda and have never felt judged negatively. We've gotten some smiles, though. :lovestruc

Wear your button and enjoy it! And happy anniversary!! :thumbsup2

Congrats on your 3rd anniversary!

We've had similar experiences as to what Zulemara's had (below) - even with Ariel in SpectroMagic waving to us, pointing at each of our buttons quickly then crossing her heart and giving us a big thumbs up!

We did it for our wedding in 2006 and we will do it for each milestone anniversary. Our 15 year anniversary (of the day we first started living together, common-law) for us is coming up in May 2009 and we'll be there with our buttons on!

That is so awesome! It's great to know there are other characters who will do that. I'm sure they do it for anyone they can see, but I know if I was on one of those floats, I would make an extra effort to find the gay people because Disney is so gay friendly.

It's great to read this thread. We got married in the UK in January 2006 (been together 13 years) and always go to Orlando in January, we wern't sure wether to ask for anniversary badges, but we will next January and be proud to wear them.:rainbow:

I had no idea there were anniversary buttons:hug:
I am visiting WDW in september with my partner and we have been together now for 5 years.
Our last trip to Disneyland it was my birthday and got a Birthday button brought to my room (someone must have noticed),but how do you get the anniversary buttons as I would love to surprise my partner with one:wizard:
