They've been back for months. I bought a black pair in December, I've never worn them and I can't find them. Dear So probably hid them.

I must of missed these the first time around. I've never even heard the word gauchos?! What era are they from originally? :confused3

I noticed in your profile that you are only 2 years older than me. Wonder how I missed these and you didn't.

By the way, I LOVE DAVID BOWIE!!

I too swore after 4th grade to never let another pair of gauchos ever touch my body....but at Christmas I saw a pair at New York and Company and laughingly tried them on for my 8 year old. Well, within an hour I had a new pair of leather boots and a stylish shirt to match. I'm happy to report that on Christmas Eve at the inlaws, I was one hot mamma. :teeth: so, never say never.

My mother wore them and now I wear them. I love them. They look great with high boots or strappy heels. So comfortable. I was a bit iffy at first, but they great styles out the second around.

I wore them back in Jr high in the late 70's. You'd think we would have learned the first time around :lmao:

I bought some a few months ago and love them! I wasn't old enough to wear them the first time around, so this is my chance. :)

LOL! I was shopping for a skirt in December and every time I thought I saw a cute one on a rack, I'd get a hold of it and realize it was gauchos! I hadn't seen them since the 70's and was adamant I wouldn't be buying any!

Then, I started noticing them on some of the middle/high school age girls in the area, and they're already growing on me. The wide ones are kind of nice because they look more like a skirt, but have more of the comfort and ease of pants.

I don't know, I might be buying some this spring, too.

I was in high school in the early 70's when they were popular. I hated them then so I doubt I will like them now.

I lived in Gauchos in HS, and have always loved the style. They really are a classic "riding skirt". Barbara Cartright used to wear them (was it Bonanza?)I think it is a classic feminine/sexy/comfortable look!
Of course i hate the ones in the picture because they are not long enough, and the rise is too low.........

Aw, come on Krista, I was hoping you would wear a pair at our next Dis Meet! :goodvibes

Yep, I remember them. I remember going to church camp WAY back in the day and we could only wear either pants or gouchos, no actual shorts. :confused3 Those fashion flashbacks alone should be enough to turn me off to them. :rotfl2:

The craze is catching on though, and I'm seeing more and more people wearing them. I have to admit that I picked up a black pair for DD4 yesterday at the mall and she is beyond cute in them. :goodvibes
I am still on the fence about them for me though.

Me too and ITA about learning the first time around :sad2:

Oh yes I love them. I have a pair and plan to purchase another. They go so well with a nice pair of wedges (shoes) :)

There are some women who can carry them off well, but they just make most of us look huge and frumpy. I think you need to have a *very* trim and fit, ummmm, backside to even consider wearing them.

I think the pair in the photo is especially ugly... but I'm no fashion critic.

these actually made their comeback LAST year...it's just filtering down to the "target/walmart" stores now.

wait - actually - target had them last year too. I had 3 pairs from Nordstrom/Urban Outfitters last year.

I wore them often...they are fun...comfortable too...and can be dressed up for the office.

My friend just "found them" in late fall - deemed them the next best thing to wearing sweats to work. (Umm..and she made fun of me for wearing them in the spring?)

i LOVE these...everyone at my school wears them all the time. they're comfortable and look a lot nicer than sweats! I've found that if you get the one's at target, they're meant to be rolled down at the top to make them low rise, but i just don't fold them and they fit a lot better.
