Flying Virgin on Thursday but not booked with Virgin so can't use the Clubhouse from what I understand.

However, care of the Egg deal (http://www.loungepass.com/tp/egg) it is possible to use one of the other lounges for about a tenner each.

Has anyone used either the Servisair lounge or the Continental lounge in the South terminal? Anyone used both with a suggestion for the better of the two?

Thanks,

Darren

Have used the Continental Lounge at Gatwick South Terminal, but it was a few years ago (Summer 2003, I think).

Nice lounge, reasonable size, fairly light and airy, quite a lot of comfortable seating, good selection of drinks, some snacks (mainly pre-packaged crisps/biscuits/nuts): certainly a nice, relaxing place to spend a bit of time (away from the madness and noise of the terminal). NOTHING like the Virgin Clubhouse (which is pretty exceptional), but good all the same.

Haven't been to the serviceair lounge at Gatwick, so can't compare.

A couple of things to realise though:
- Continental Lounge closes at 13:15 every day (what time is your flight?)
- Serviseair Lounge has a "smart casual" dress policy (some people dislike this).

Whether either of those effect you...

Flight is the 11:15 VS027. With the current situation the 13:15 cut-off could become an issue, I guess...

We've used the Servisair Lounge. Pleasant enough (contemporary decor and furnishings), but the food/beverage offerings are limited. The Clubhouse Lounge is far superior. For £35, you can book it if you are flying Virgin regardless of who you booked with. Phone 0870 2200088.

Except the last time I tried for Thursday (we're on the 12:30), there were no spaces available, although we did need 3, perhaps 1 or 2 spaces are available!

I've gone for the Continental lounge via the link above as I've done some scouting on the web and it seems decent enough. Additionally, not many places seem to offer this lounge so hoping it will be quieter than the Servisair one which I've read can be busy. With the Egg discount, it works out at a tenner each - so no big loss if it is no good.

Just hope the 13:15 closing doesn't come into play!

Cool. I was only looking at going to the Virgin one for a free haircut! :thumbsup2 There's only really posh salons in our village, who will charge virtually the same price for just a trim, so I was gonna try it at Virgin and get all the extras too. Ah well, not to panic. I'm sure we'll be spending all our time with the airport physician trying to get both my mum and sister's liquid/needles medication authorised -oh what fun!

Virgin have changed the rules now and you have to have booked a virgin holiday to be able to buy access to the clubhouse :-(

The servisair lounge is ok, drinks ok but very limited snacks, lets you avoid the hussle of the main departure lounge though, and is smoke free.

How recently did they change the rules? We booked the Clubhouse in June and we didn't book a Virgin Holiday and we changed the dates last week with no problem.

We just phoned and booked for October :thumbsup2 Despite what it says on the website, it doesn't seem to make a difference (we're booked with Virgin Atlantic, not Virgin Holidays). In January we were able to book online, but when we tried to book for April, it just took us round in circles. The same thing is happening now. :confused3

It is nice and, I think, well worth a tenner each.

Think that it is mainly used by Continental and NorthWest Business Class passengers, Continental "Presdent's Club" Members and amybe a few that pay to use it (like you). That is why it closes so earlier - it closes after the last Continental flight leave Gatwick.

Have fun :)

So you booked without having a virgin holiday/flydrive?

Thats good to know as normally I book my flights seperate to my hotel, car etc, though it does say on the web, and I was asked on the phone in june when I booked mine If I was on a virgin holidays holiday, Perhaps they dont know what they are talking about again, would not be the first time LOL.

Oh and I wasent able to book it online too, I think that part is broken as it says no avalibility for all dates!

Yes, Gavin - we've booked flights only with Virgin Atlantic. I'm pretty sure the last time we booked, it also appeared, on the face of it, that you could only book if you'd booked through Virgin Holidays.

When Matt phoned this morning, he was asked if he had an existing booking number. He said he didn't and she said, "Oh, that's OK, if you had I was going to link the bookings".
