gatwick closed till 6am tomorrow!

what a nightmare for anybody that was due to fly today :-(, hope no one is affected here and that tomorrow things are back to normal, bloomin weather!
 
Yes the weather is something of a nightmare at the minute - I have got my fingers crossed for next week :santa:
 
My friend is due to fly out of Gatwick tomorrow for their first ever family holidau - her, hubby and four children (1 with Aspergers and 1 learning difficulties) for 4 weeks in Orlando - she has spent upwards of £20,000 (including spends), Richard Petty experience for her son and Discovery Cove on Christmas Day and only the eldest son knows.

She has a real problem now apart from the Gatwick flyer being booked for 5 am tomorrow and not able to cancel with out incurring full cost (rang them today and no luck) she has Cinderella's castle booked for Saturday, her birthday - should she ring Disney and explain problem and see if they can change etc - never had a problem like this on our trips so no idea what to advise - Any ideas

That is awful! :sad2: I can't offer any advice unfortunately.

It never hurts to try contacting Disney, but in this case, with CRT it is doubtful they will be able to reschedule at this late stage. However she MUST still let them know if they are not going to make it as there is a credit card hold (per person on the ADR) for CRT and a no show or last minute cancellation will result in her card being charged.

I hope they get sorted. It's hard enough with just adults but even worse with kids.
 

Virgin have cancelled all LGW flights today and tomorrow.

this is awful! poor Alison was on her way to gatwick today for her flight tomorrow, my heart goes out to everyone affected, I understand why they've done it but it's just not fair :-(
 
Hope everyone has managed to rebook ok, I know one flight for Gatiwick was diverted to Manchester today.

Were flying from Manchester on Saturday keep your fingers crossed for me :wizard:

Arghh it's like the volcano over again so I can sympathise with the frustration and anxiety this is causing. With any luck the weather will improve after tomorrow so hopefully things will get back to normal soon...
 
I have just had a long conversation with my very upset friend, she had been in tears for sometime - she was on the 11.15 virgin flight tomorrow that has been cancelled, she has been on the phone to them for over 2 hours more than an hour of this on hold! but still has no answers, they are offering her a refund on her flights (but she booked a package with them - should they not refund it all!!!) or re-book for later paying any increase in price, she asked if they could move her to another flight to any where and take an internal flight or train but they have told her that all flights in the next few days are fully booked. I really feel for anyone in this situation and hope that all manage to get there eventually

I wonder (you probably won't know) what kind of travel insurance they have. If she claims a refund from the airline she might be able to claim for the rest on the travel insurance - especially since it was a package. I don't blame her being upset. Tell her there are some complete strangers sending happy thoughts and pixie dust. :wizard: The flights might all be full with that airline but there might be some seats on some other airlines from different airports if they are willing to travel. Obviously, and maybe don't say so just now, it will be much harder to pick up flights now with a larger party. I do hope it all works out. I feel really sad thinking about it. I would be devastated.

I was caught up in the snow cancellations in January so can completely understand the gut wrenching disapointment!
