Gatwick by Train?

Whats the Gatwick Flyer?

Thanks everyone for your advice and tips.

Two different things....

There's the Gatwick Flyer Railcard for train services operating out of Wales to Gatwick;

and

The Gatwick Flyer minibus service serving Essex.

:goodvibes

Thanks everyone we have decided on traveling by train, Now have to wait until we can purchase the tickets, can anyone tell me when it would be possible to book them for feb?

Also any tips on luggage and getting across on the tube with luggage x

You can book from twelve weeks before onwards. Thats twelve weeks in advance of each date of travel, so maybe an idea to wait until 12 weeks before your return date, book both parts of journey at the same time, only one booking fee.

I've done Gatwick by train from West Wales a few times, couple of changes from one train to another, but much less hastle than parking near Gatwick etc.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned, if you are doing an overnight stay near the airport, there is a cheap shuttle bus to many of the main chain hotels, about £3.50 each way I think. Depending on how many of you, could be cheaper than a taxi. Last time I stayed at the NEW travelodge on thier opening night. I had a view of the airport from my window and was so nice (for a travelodge anyway) I am booked there again for the next trip.

We're booked via trains as well.

We go from Leicester > St Pancreas, then St Pancreas > Gatwick so only one change which is a big bonus with 3 excited children (they would have only been told a few hours earlier that we're going!).
:D

At the risk of sounding like a stalker :rotfl2: we're going down on Weds by train too - might see you on the St Pancreas to Gatwick stretch - but I think we'll be a bit later than you as going after school finishes.:thumbsup2

Hi for those who have traveled by train, have you had any problems missing connecting trains? I am worried that I might miss a connection time and get stuck.

Coming from Yarmouth you shouldn't have a problem - you are effectively on 'local' routes the whole way, so if you miss a connection you just take the next one :thumbsup2

Anyone j is what time the last train from London to Gatwick is? Different sites are telling me different times. We'll be flying on a Monday but going up on Sunday and staying overnight but we won't be going till the evening because we would both have work during the day.

Also anyone wanting to book trains should look at the Trainline they do pretty cheap fares to London then you'd just have to pay London to Gatwick
