Hi I was wondering if anyone can tell me what restaurants there are at Gatwick (before check-in)? Used to love eating at Frankie and Bennys but it was only airside last year! We stay the night before we travel and had a really bad meal in Giraffe last year that we're not keen to repeat:rotfl:. Alot of building work was going on then so I'm hoping there are other places to eat!
Thanks

Have a look at the Gatwick Airport web site for a list, but tbh there really isn't much before airside nowadays. A lot of people tend to go for Giraffe as generally it does decent food (maybe you were just unlucky). We ate there in October and thought it was really good. I get the feeling that security at Gatwick don't want people lingering too long and want everybody through security!

The choices are really limited now :sad2:

We also didn't enjoy Giraffe so last time we tried the Weatherspoons and it was a bit better. we had a nice table by the window looking down over the arrivals area. There is also a pub at the North Terminal that wasn't bad.

Don't forget it is only a few minutes over to the north terminal on the free shuttle train where they have The Globe restaurant and Joes kitchen :thumbsup2

why not go to crawley leisure park, its not far, and has lots of restaurants a cinema and bowling alley.

we do this the day before we fly, watch a movie then head out for a nice meal before heading back to the B&B

That is a good option unless you are staying somewhere like the Hilton the night before and will have already parked your car in a long-stay car park. Without transport, it is slightly more difficult.

To the OP, we had a good meal at Giraffe last year, having previously had a not-so-great experience so might be woth giving it another try.

Hadnt realised that this was nearby thanks. We dont normally venture far as we have no car etc but worth looking into:)

Thanks. We will definitely wander over there and see if things look any better:) Could be we were just unlucky!

We have eaten at the Globe - it was quite nice. I had a pasta dish.

It was the first place we ate after F&B closed and we thought it expensive at the time however looking at the prices of the other Gatwick restaurants now it was quite reasonable.

We do find the Hilton to be very over priced

We'll be eating there again on Thursday night :cool1:

Thanks for this-I'd never heard of this site but it has some good offers:thumbsup2 Any money saved here is more for florida lol:rotfl:

You are welcome :goodvibes you will need to check the offer date as they run month to month so only print them off in the month you are going. ;)

I can highly recommend Joe's Kitchen in the North Terminal. In fact we offered to go and pick someone up from Gatwick Airport just so we could get there a few hours early and get a meal once!

We are surprising our boys with a 22 night Disney and Universal trip in september and we are trying to think of a really cool way to tell them!
I never thought to look for a leisure park near by the the airport!! We are now thinking we could tell the boys that daddy has to do some work in London we actually live in bedford so only around an hours drive we could check into the hotel and then take them to the cinema :woohoo: after we could take them to dinner drop the surprise maybe by gettingthe waiter to bring out their dessert with YOUR GOING TO DISNEY TOMORROW on it :thumbsup2 then go to the airport for twilightcheck in!! So even though i didnt think this thread would help me you may just have helped our surprise go real smooth:banana:
