I've been doing some holiday planning for my boss and her family today to help them out when they travel in October and my boss' DH expressed an interest in going to Gatorland when they're there.

As I've nev been I cant help her much with the questions she has. Does it justify its $25 a piece price tag? Is it a full or half day visit? Is it actually interesting and what's actually there other than the total obvious...Gators haha :)

Any comments and help appreciated guys and gals :)

I really enjoyed it but I was 9 when I last went! If try have some spare time I'd say its worth it. Not as big as a zoo, as I remember. But the fact it's gators made it more exciting.

When we went there a few years ago we were totally underwhelmed to the point that the kids were asking to leave. If they have a love of gators, would enjoying throwing hotdogs at them while they make no attempt to eat them at all (which you have to buy separately of course), or watching a man wrestle a gator that has its mouth taped shut with masking tape then they will love it.
Not one if Florida finest attractions in my opinion.

See, this is what I feared! I really do think the money would be better spent elsewhere on their holiday, but I can obviously only advise them.

The website even makes it look appalling :crazy2:

Thanks for the replies :)

Maybe I'm purely remembering it from a 9 year olds point of view. Disappointing, maybe it's gone downhill. It was about 23 years ago though!!

Well, their children are 9 and 14...so I'm guessing they'll feel similar :rotfl: After reading Kenny's reply also, I'd probably say the kids would be bored, esp after experiencing the other parks beforehand!

We went a couple of years ago and DH and I didn't think much of it at all and it was def only a half day for us. We had a friend with us and he really enjoyed it. The best thing for us was going in the budgie enclosure and feeding them! We wouldn't go back.

Thanks Vanda...I really can't see my boss wanting to feed budgies tbh, she's really not an animal person! If they're going to do it, I'll recommend half day at the most for it I think.

OT but nice to see you back Kenny your ticket threads have been missed :)

Half a day, good fun in a folksey kind of way. Funnily enough, one of the better gift shops we encountered.

Half a day at the most on the plan then, that;s all he's getting :rotfl2:
