Was just told by a coworker that it's $2.40 in Barrie right now!

How much is it where you are?

My DH just come home and said it was 98 some places it was 99.. and the gas stations are full.. We live in Barrie.. so thats just a rumor.. as of right now!!

These are nasty rumours. I went on a website that tracks gas prices, and the highest in Ontario was $1.59/l, while the lowest was $0.94 in Lasalle, Ont. It was $1.04 here this AM when I went to work. I have heard Stratford was $3.00, Sarnia was $2.40, London was $1.89. My co-workers came in, and said that Stratford, London, and Sarnia were all between $0.98 and $1.09.

Let's hope it's all rumor then. I just paid $1.04 at Shell in Aurora.

London this morning ranged from .965 to 1.049. I think it's all a big ploy to get us to think $1/litre is cheap so we'll all stop complaining. :rotfl2: It's pretty scary though when you think how quickly it jumped to 1.35 when Katrina hit. I'm glad that it was short-lived, for the time.

Montreal was 1,11$ but they say that in Quebec city its 1,68$

Lets hope its not that price!

Hey There .. I live in Stratford and about had like a major heart attack this morning ... the gas station down the street was $2.25 ... :confused3 O.k. this is what the rumour is ... some kids changed the board this morning, and of course another gas station thought it was true and followed ... I dont think people thought it was funny ... as you can imagine it caused a lot of turmoil!!! Gas is back to 99c now tho! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: Just keeping you updated :goodvibes

Princess - thanks for the clarification - DH just called and said prices in Stratford were over $2/litre and go directly to fill up NOW.

Unfortunately this reminds me of what happened when we were in Georgia right after Katrina. A rumour started about 3pm and by 5pm the prices and lines ups were unbelievable.

It was just a rumour and it created panic. I hope this doesn't happen here, because down there it took the government to step in to calm things.
I'm sure that will happen here........ ;) Can you just see it. "Gas prices are now $2/litre - hey let's go with that - think of the profits and tax revenues"
 :sad2:

The solution in Georgia was to tell the people not to panic and don't go to their local station to fill up unless you are empty.

Keep us posted. Hopefully it has calmed down.

Phew. In Halifax this morning at 10ish it was 1.11, BUT there were HUGE LINES waiting at all three gas stations I passed on my way to work. And I need to fill up today! Hope the craziness has passed.

I actually heard that too about the gas in Barrie being $2.04.... It's $1.04 here in Toronto

Just passed a gas station outside of Niagara Falls at $1.84. It is still $1.04 in town, but people are lined up like crazy

I think a number of stations initially went way out in left field. Go to http://www.ontariogasprices.com .
You can put in your city on the left side and then when you look at the gas stations in your area look at the time the price was entered. Some of the prices are a day or two old but many are within the hour.

The prices are rising fast. A Mr. Gas near Ottawa is already at $2.07... and there was a $2.34 sighting in Brockville.

There are 30-car line-ups at all the stations in our area where it's still $1.02 - $1.04.

This is crazy! My boyfriend lives in Belle River. The gas station down the street from his house last week was $1.27 litre. He said that their $1.00/litre is equal to our (USA) $3.16/gallon. That means that he was paying about $3.50/gallon if you convert it.

Our gas over here south of Detroit in Michigan is $2.49/gallon...no wonder he always wants to fill up when he comes over to see me!

I can't believe how angry this situation is making me today! Here in St. Catharines our prices took so much longer to drop from the 1.34 rate earlier this month back to 1.04. There is no reason for it, except the owners changing the prices are looking to get a little extra if they can. The lineups at the pumps today were huge. It reminds me of the 'gas wars' in the 70's except then we were lining up because it was so incredibly cheap!

People at my workplace were even using their lunch hours and vacation time to fill up. Hopefully the feared prices won't be here for long but it's amazing how we are anxious to line up to pay more than $1 per litre when that was considered exhorbitant just a month ago!

around here in Hamilton gas is about 1.04/L but there are huge lineups for that!
what do you all think.. should I go and fill up tonight or wait and get it in the morning.. I have to have a full tank cause we are headed to Midland for the weekend.. opinions please.. hype or not????
keep in mind I have a 100 L tank and I am sitting at half now.....?

:confused3

MIC I would search gasbuddy and go fill it up tonight it is better to be safe than sorry.
