The hurricanes didn't help. Besides you can't deny the shut down of the rigs and refineries in the gulf put a strain on the system. And with the damage the rigs and refineries suffered they're going to have to pay for it somehow. So prices are most likely going to be high for a while. I don't like it either, but that's the way things are right now.momof2inPA said:Come on, they are gouging us, just like Exxon. Blame it on Katrina. I think I'll raise the cost of cookies at our Church bake sale and say Katrina caused a chocolate chip shortage. People will believe anything.

This is the first winter in this house so I do a comparison. I was talking to a social service shelter and their heating expense went up 76% from last year.
no more running around the house in T-shirts. Double layer sweats!!!

Huge, no. We have about 4000 sq ft between the house and finished basement. This is also new construction, so should be energy efficient. I think not!!! This bill is about average in our neighborhood. We do have two zone too.tinkerrn said:I had to reread this twice. No idea. Though we thought it would be more efficient since we can effectively turn down the downstairs at night, and only keep the upstairs warm at night, and do the opposite during the day. We have two separate systems, one is in the attic for the upstairs and one is in the basement for the downstairs.AllyandJack said:Is two zone heat more expensive? DH and I have been thinking about putting our bedroom on a separate thermostat since I LOVE it freezing in the summer and chilly in the winter. If we ever have kids, I wouldn't want them to freeze because of me.![]()
