Garmin SAT NAV

Hi, I have a Garmin Sat Nav and was wondering if I should take it to the US. Does anyone know how to get the relevant maps etc. downloaded on it. I've looked on their website and it's as clear as mud!!!

We have the Garmin Nuvi 300 series cant remember exactly! We bough the SD card from an Ebay store has all the maps of North America and Canade it costs £130 including important tax Although we have been to Orlando lots of times we found it really useful

We also have a Garmin and have a map with Florida, Georgia, South Carolina etc.. on it. We use it alot!!
