Garden view room at Portofino-Balconies?

Hi- I was trying to find previous posts about the balconies at Portofino-I remember reading there are a few. We have 2 garden view rooms booked for the end of this August. I have to call them to request them being adjoining (booked through Cheaptickets). Are there garden view rooms that even have balconies, or a patio, or are they just with the deluxe rooms? If there are garden view with balconies, can you book that ahead of time, or is it when you check in you hopefully will get one? Thank you!

Recently, it has been reported that you can request a balcony at an extra cost. There are balconies and some ground level patios all over the hotel. I would call the Loews reservation line (not Universal Vacations) or contact the hotel directly with this request.

I don't know how it will work with the adjoining rooms, though. You may not be able to get both adjoining and balconies. The large balconies are on the bay view rooms. The ones on the other side of the hotel are quite small.

I was told that balcony requests are a "first come, first serve " request at check in and are an extra nightly charge.We asked at check in in Jan and were told that all balcony rooms were occupied and not available.Perhaps you will have better luck..Patios are not an extra charge, but we didn't luck out and get one of those either

I called the resort directly to confirm they had our reservations, and to request adjoining rooms. I asked about the balconies, and the rep said that they are only offered to platinum members, he said it was something new. I figured I'll call again in late spring (we're not going until Aug), and request again, or at check in.
