Hey all! I priced out the groceries we want for our June trip and it's hovering around $50. Is it worth it to get them from Garden Grocer? I can't find anything on their site about what they charge for delivery, etc....You apparently have to register to do that and I'm just not going to do that at the moment.

Can anyone help???

We use wegoshop they have the delivery charges on the web site. We were happy with there service.

Huge Gardengrocer fan here. The delivery is $12, but free for orders over $200. Yeah - I know. $200?? But they are a great company to deal with. We'll be at SSR next month :) and we've ordered from them again. You can even ask for items they don't have listed and they will supply them for you.

Don't be worried about registering. They want your name and email address but you don't fill out charge card info until the end. The site is very easty to navigate. Also, you can call their toll-free number and ask away. The customer service reps were always helpful to me.

Do they deliver alcohol???!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, they do!! However, whoever is ordering needs to FAX them a copy of your state driver's license for proof of age.

Hmmm....I contacted them back in December to deliver alcohol and they told me no. Wegoshop told me no as well. You might just double and triple check!

OT: We have always heard advice about making a copy of your passport, Drivers License, etc.

Well... I just bought a MDF Color Laser printer from Xerox... and the legal disclaimers list items that are illegal to copy in the United States with the following warning:

Penalties of fine or imprisonment may be imposed on those guilty of making
such reproductions.

Of course passports and drivers licenses (certain states) are listed.

We were there last spring and it was okay. Hmmmmm.:ssst:

I think because it's a color copy - hence the warning. :confused3

We used Garden Grocer for our last trip. Fantastic service.
Well worth the 10-12 dollar delivery fee. I figured I couldn't take a taxi into town for that price!

GG delivered alcohol for us several times including this past March. We never provided them with a copy of our drivers license but the very first time they delivered to us, we were at the resort to receive it. Also, they hadn't been in business very long then either. Maybe showing proof of age is a requirement now for new customers.

I just remembered I need to order for our trip the end of May!!!! We really like GG!

At what $$ is it best to just use the DVC order form vs ordering groceries off-site? Our primary expense is breakfast foods and Diet Coke, which I drink when others are having their morning coffee. I've never ordered off-site so any information is more than I currently have (especially since SSR apparently no longer offers cans:scared1: ).

I can pull out my trusty spreadsheets to do some comparisons but I thought I would ask first.

We've used GardenGrocer several times and loved it. We've ordered beer and they never asked for identification. We had to call back the next day to pay for it since it was listed in our comments section. We are like you, only spending around $50 and then adding the delivery charge and tip. It's still worth it. We're able to get a case of water, snacks, breakfast items and beer. That makes my DH happy and saves us quite a bit of money. I've looked over the DVC grocery order form and to me it looks like everything is from the gift shop--no savings at all. Just the convenience of having it gathered and delivered to your room. :surfweb:

We used GG last summer and it worked out splendidly. They bought a bottle of rum for us and delivered it to OKW with the groceries and never asked for any ID. We just placed another order for our trip to AKV and BWV in June. There is a $12 delivery charge. Ordering on-line and scheduling delivery was very easy.

I figure with delivery charge and tip, plus the slightly higher prices GG might charge vs. say, going to Publix yourself, I paid about $25 on a $100 grocery bill. For me, $25 was well worth not making the trip myself. On arrival night, the last thing I want to do is fight the hordes of all the other timeshare folks who are checkin in, too.

Our past trips, we have rented a car and gone grocery shopping as soon as we arrived, spending a couple hours of our time driving, shopping and having the conceirge hold our groceries until our room was ready. This time we decided to use the Magical Express and Garden Grocer after reading several comments on this board about GG.

What a fabulous service and so convenient!!! This will definitely be something we do for every trip, if not on the DDP. We never priced out how much we would have saved if we would have shopped ourselves, even though we know we paid more, but the convenience and the fact we could dive right into our vacation and relax is priceless!

I would highly recommend them! We ordered beer and put the request in the comment section and were never asked for ID for our trip (Apr 08).

GG worked out great. Very convenient. Last thing we wanted to do after landing in MCO is go to a grocery store. We're on vacation! They weren't cheap but they weren't a ripoff either. would definitely use again at BWV.

GG website says that an adult must be present for delivery. Will they deliver to bell services if we aren't in the room?

TIA

Yes. We are doing that again this year. Then bell services will bring it to your room when you're ready.

We have used GG several times and have been very pleased. We have added items not on the list and they did a great job finding them. We were never asked to fax an ID. I would not hesitate to use them again.

ive used garden grocer many times and ordered alcohol. they have never asked for my id. last time what we had delivered was waiting for us at check-in. when the food got to the room there was a note attached that i owed them a balance. when you place the order you're not sure how much the alcohol costs so i kinda guessed the amount. but they dropped the food off anyway-i wasnt even checked in yet! i thought that was really nice and called right away to give them my credit card number. i was just glad i put the tip in the order and not waitied to tip in person, being we werent there.
