Garden Grille

Our last trip to WDW was in April 2001 and we had an AWESOME character lunch at the Garden Grille. Lunch was served family style and the character interaction was the best I'd ever experienced - it was DD's first visit and at 22 mos. she happily fed Pluto her french fries and Chip & Dale pulled up chairs to our table and colored with her! We're going again in May. I think I remember seeing something here on the boards about this meal now being a buffet and that the character interaction wasn't what it used to be. Has anyone been there recently? Does the restaurant still rotate? I remember the meal being barbecue, and I think they brought out Mac & cheese for DD. I'd love to hear about what it's like now, and will be so disappointed if it's changed.

Unless it has just recently changed, we were just there in August/02 and it was still family style and still rotated around the Land ride. We had a wonderful meal there, marinated flank steak (the best we had ever had, until we went to Boma) catfish (which we didn't even want to try, but were very glad we did as it was delicious), chicken breast (which we didn't have seconds on cause everything else was so good), nice mashed potatoes and a salad to start. The dessert was a lemon meringue cake that was quite nice. Our DS8 had macaroni and cheese and chicken fingers, but ended up eating mostly the same as we had. Character interaction was great with everyone but Pluto coming by 3 times to us. As a matter of fact, we are going back again in April as our son says that's the only character meal he wants to do this time! Hope this helps.
