Garden Grill - worth it or not?

My 5 year old for some reason wants to eat with Chip & Dale this year................Are they still at this character meal?

It's my favorite character meal too. I'm not a big fan of fish, but there's is good. As other have said, character interaction is the best or that's MHO. I never had issues with the rotation and I suffer from motion sickness.

We love Garden Grill. We've eaten there 4 times over the last 5 years or so. We've always had good food and service. The characters there are the best we've EVER experienced- lots of interaction/attention.

The only negative for you would be the fish issue. The catfish there is really good! :) I didn't like catfish until I tried Garden Grill's, mmmm.

I love the GG! If I could get away with it I'd book it twice a trip but there are so many others to try I'll stick with one night. I do disagree with the poster about shelling out big bucks for a meal you could make at home- that's how I feel about Liberty Tree, though.

To Saxman - GG is one of the few places at the parks to eat with Chip and Dale. They are my DD6 favorite characters. Although when I made my ADR for the GG (June) they would not "guarantee" Chip and Dale would be there, I don't think (IMO) they would change that, especially since they are no longer at CM.

We have been several times, with different menu's. While it is no longer on our list of top ten disney restaurants...or even top 15, I would say that you should try it at least once.

Make sure you tell them you are allergic to the fish...you may also want to ask if the fries are cooked in the same oil (if you have children dinning with you that may be a concern).

when we went in May it was Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale!

We were there in Sept and had a blast. We thought the food was great, the service wonderful and the character interaction one of the best. DD wouldn't eat her food so the waitress brought Mickey over and he stood there with his arms crossed and foot tapping until she ate some.

We like the Garden Grill. I find the character interaction to be pretty good. They are very good about leaving things off of the serving platter. Disney is very proactive with dealing with food allergies. When we were there last the salad that was served with the meal was ceaser I asked for a regular garden salad and it was no problem at all.

I do believe it's worth it!!! ::yes::

The character interaction is fantastic!!
The food is good (not great)!!
Our service was always fantastic, but we go in the off season, and the restaurant is never busy :sad2:

I'm sure if you told them about your fish allergy, they will do everything they can to accomodate that - WDW is great about that!!! :thumbsup2

We absolutely loved the GG when we went this past November. The food was good, but the character interaction was the best. Chip (or was it Dale) spent a lot of time with us as did Pluto. Mickey did the cutest thing. My son had on a shirt that displayed his "perfect family". It has a picture of dad, mom, "me" and a blank spot for "sister". When Mickey noticed this, he waved his finger at Daniel.

Here Mickey is drawing a picture of DD.

Here Mickey is putting his drawing where the missing "sister" is on the shirt.

OneBadApple - those are such cute pics!

Thank you everyone for your opinions and insight, we went and made our ADR's last night! :woohoo: I read these posts to my family and they were all for trying something new!

When we called, they put down about the fish allergy, and the lady gave my mom another number to call closer to the vacation - its a line to talk with someone about any concerns about food allergies. Also she suggested when we check in to remind our server about the food allergy, and said that the chef may or may not come out to speak with us. She assured my mom that Disney is very proactive regarding food allergies!

So now I just can't wait until June 30 (day of our ADR)! :yay: :yay: :yay:

We love Garden Grill, we have eaten there on our last 3 trips and we love it. The food is good, and the character interaction is wonderful. This past trip we also tried the LTT dinner, and I have to say that I enjoyed the GG's food way more than LTT. I did enjoy the colonial ambiance at the LTT. I do feel the decor at GG is a bit dated. But we will be returning. :)

We tired it for the first time in December and enjoyed our meal. The food isn't fancy but if you like meat and potatoes it's good. We especially like the cheesy potatoes. DH and I don't like fish so it was no problem for them to leave it off the platter.

I'd suggest telling them when you make the ADR about the fish allergy. And of course when you check in and to your server about your allergy. I've read so many things about Disney I don't recall if they do or do not have a special number to call about dietary needs. If your alergy is such you may want to check to see if they have one.

Karen

We are not fish eaters, so I wonder if we could get more of something else or substitute???
