DD9 and I spent the day in EPCOT yesterday, and one of the highlights of the day certainly was our lunch at Garden Grill! Tara's favorite characters are Chip & Dale (no princesses for this girl!)

We arrived at the podium around 11:25, I had a later ADR, but it seemed to work better to see if they had something available, in nothing flat we were seated at a table on the lower level. Our server Victor promptly arrived at our table and took our drink orders. It was at this moment that Tara told me I never told her that the restaurant revolved! She liked it here.

In no time at all - Chip & Dale were visiting our table! They are just too much fun. I loved that at this time they came together! Aren't they cute in their overalls?

Our drinks and a loaf of yummy bread with tasty flavored butter arrived. Cranberry flavor maybe? I wasn't able to place it yesterday, although I should have been able too!

In a matter of minutes our lunches arrived. Tara had the kids platter of mac & cheese/french fries/chicken nuggets. My platter arrived with turkey with a cranberry sauce, thinly sliced beef with a bit of gravy & fried catfish. Also some smashed potatoes and snap peas (is that what you call peas still in the pod?) and a couple baby carrots! YUMMY!

I was very happy with the food, and found everything tasty and enjoyable. Now I had looked at the menu several times, and I did not think it was really for me - maybe dinner is different, and that is what I had looked at in the past, or maybe things have changed. I had also considered asking for the vegetarian dish, but I am ever so happy that I stuck with the normal fare! Tara even liked the peas and she tried some catfish as well.

There was more than enough food on the platter that was served to me, but Victor asked if we would like more of anything. I asked for more veggies as well as another piece of catfish, as Tara wanted a little more. He returned with a plate full of peas and a plate full of just fried catfish! We ate just a little of this - I felt bad that so much was brought to the table.

In the mean time Mickey visited us, as well as Pluto, and Chip again on his own, then Dale. Mickey & Pluto stopped by a couple times as well.

Shortly after, Victor cleared our plates and brought DESSERT. Tara got the decorate yourself cupcake - she is not a cupcake eater, but she decorated it very pretty, and left a note with it that it was for Chip! She only ate the gummy worm that came with it, and in fact asked for another one and Victor brought her a bowl full.

The grown up dessert was like a-pop over type pastry filled with cream, covered with a fruit sauce, as little whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Now I have been watching what I eat and exercising, but I knew this would probably be our big meal for the day.. so I indulged! I was not disappointed. It tasted as heavnly as it looked!

I have to say that I was pleasantly suprised by the food. It was tasty. (I know wish I had made T-giving ADRs here!) The characters were great, and the revolving restaurant and basic atmosphere of the restaurant was nice.

This concludes my quest to do all of the character meals (at least one meal per location - if they have b-fast & dinner - in same cases we have not done both meals) in 2006 - with 3 months to spare! We still have four more at locations that we have already been to over the next three months!

After lunch we rode "Living with the Land" with the new recorded narration - this keeps the line moving much quicker it seems since the number of boats in service is not limited to the number of CMs assigned to the ride.

We decided to do the Behind the Seeds Tour as well, and had a really nice time on this as well. We learned some interesting facts, Tara was able to let some ladybugs loose to help control the pest population, and she also feed the fish. We got to taste a cucumber that was grown there too!

We had ADR's for Garden Grill in July, but they were having problems, and closed down for the night of our dinner.

It looks like a fun place to eat. Just another of many excusses to go back, I guess.

I have ADR's for Garden Grill in February. My 3 year old daughter LOVES Chip and Dale. I am even more excited about this meal after your review! I actually wasn't all that concerned about liking the food, but now I can look forward to that as well as the characters. Did you decide to go on the Behind the Seeds tour that day or have a reservation? I would love to do this, but I'm not sure if it is a good choice for a 3 year old :confused3 Thanks for the info and the pics!

We signed up for the Behind the Seeds yesterday - it seemed that most folks did it that way - at least in the group we were in! I have been wanting to do it for some time, but it was nice that it was DDs idea!

I guess it would depend on the 3 year old - there is a lot of talking and listening to facts - it lasts about 1 hour. You are either standing & listening or walking behind the tour guide. We did not have any small children on our tour.

I guess we'll have to try it in a few years...

We saw this restaurant when we were in Epcot last time. Looked like a nice place to eat, but of course we weren't hungry at the time, plus I didn't know much about it. After reading your review, we may need to eat here next time! Thanks for posting, and the food looks DELICOUS!!! :thumbsup2

We went to the Garden Grill last week and we loved it. We had plenty of character time and the food was great.

We have never done Garden Grill and have been to WDW many times.
Sounds like we should add it to our ADR's :teeth:

garden grill is one of our favourites my boys love it.

:thumbsup2 thanks for the great review and pictures-going to have to try it on our next trip!

Glad you enjoyed yourselves! We at there in August for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. We all enjoyed our food (I had the vegetarian dish which was a risotto) and we thought the characters were very interactive and often at our table. In fact, I don't think we've ever had such great character interaction!

Thanks for the review, I really enjoyed it. We are eating here for our Candlelight Processional dinner in December and I can't wait! Lucky you, getting to visit the parks so often! That is so cool that you have tried every character meal-how fun!

We did Garden Grill for our last meal at WDW this past trip. Our group of 10 was very impressed by this restaurant - everything was delicious.

We shocked our waitress - we had asked for seconds (no problem there), but when she came over with it - there was no place to put it down - so we picked up the old tray - and scraped the leftovers onto the new one :rotfl2:

Lunch & Dinner sound like the same menu.

This is one of my all time favorites. I like the interaction with the characters and the food.

In the past, the only difference between the lunch and dinner, is salad came with the dinner. A great salad, with vegetables from the land.

I had lunch there for my birthday in August and I had the kids plate, I had been wanting chicken fingers my entire trip. We told the server that we were too full for desert. She said okay, and brought out this 5inch cake iced with cool whip and a card signed by Chip, Dale, Mickey, and Pluto. It was one of the highlights of my trip.

The Garden Grill was one of the places my DH really had no interest eating at so for the longest time we never did!

Why did we wait so long? That's it exactly! We ate there this past May. The food was plentiful and delicious. We had more than enough time with characters. In fact they came around 2 if not 3 times during our meal.

You never hear very much about this restaurant, but it is one of my favourites. I also love Chip & Dale and last time we were there, we lingered so long that we got to see them 3 or 4 times.
This is definately one of my restaurants to eat at every time I go. I wouldn't miss it.

Garden Grille is my "do not miss" restaurant. How it's stayed under the radar for so long I have no idea. :)

We enjoyed it so much, I just changed our Candlelight Proc ADRs from 12/24 at Tepanyaki to 12/23 at Garden Grill.

This is not only a bit cheaper, but also will work better as my mother is flying into MCO on Christmas Eve, and we were going to have to rush out of EPCOT to pick her up after CP. Of course she had not problem if she had to wait a bit, but I feel better. We also have ADRs at Crystal Palace Christmas morning, so I think having Christmas Eve day at home will be better for us!

I'm thinking it will seem more "Christmassy" with the menu at Garden Grill! I'll take DD to her favorite sushi restaraunt on Christmas Eve for lunch to get a CA Roll -for a whole lot cheaper!!!

What is the Behind the Seeds Tour and how do you sign up for it? We will be there 11/18-11/25 for our first ever trip to WDW.
