Garden Grill - Why did we wait so long?

We had dinner there 10/1.

The menu was the same as makinorlando said, except there was salad, and dessert was Vanilla Bread Pudding. I've never actually had bread pudding, but what I've seen at buffets never looked like this - this reminded me of French Toast Loaf, just less cinnamon-y. It was really good.

We enjoyed the meal & the characters, but they were running behind that night.

Our ADR was for 5:40, we were seated at 6:05, and we didn't get to leave until 7:40. We waited quite awhile between courses.

What is the Behind the Seeds Tour and how do you sign up for it? We will be there 11/18-11/25 for our first ever trip to WDW.

ETA - I just realized you said this is your first trip.... The Land is the building at EPCOT that houses the popular ride "Soarin" as well as a boat ride could "Living with the Land" - it takes you through different climates and talks about farming & agriculture, weather etc. We always enjoy the ride.

While you are on the ride you also go through several greenhouses that contain many different types of fruit and vegetable plants that are being grown in different & experimental ways - no soil, low water, etc.

Here is Disney's link to the ride ....http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/attractionDetail?id=LivingwiththeLandAttractionPage

You can sign up for Behind the Seeds at a desk right near the entrance to SOARIN' - it was actually quite interesting - they take you into the greenhouse areas of "The Land" - we had a discussion about the natural pest control - what bugs control other bugs, and then we walked through the different greenhouse areas and the guide - explained to us the different methods they are using to grow the plants - without soil, etc. You also walk through the aquaculture area where they have the fish and baby alligators.

The kids got to release lady bugs (natural pest control) and feed the fish.

It was about 1 hour long, and both myself and DD9 thought it totally worth the time!

There is a charge - it was $18 for the two of us - that was with at 10% AP discount I believe.

They do several tours throughout the day with about 12-13 folks max!

This has been on our list from Day 1 DGD saw Revolving Restaurant and insisted we go!! I think she thinks it SPINS !!! The menu will suit as fine, everything looked delicious/.

I was excited to read this review. We decided to book GG for our CP lunch pkg (5pm show) in Dec. Our family loves to see the characters and have had some great experiences. I'm really looking forward to this after reading all the fantastic stories.

Thanks to all for sharing

I'm surprised to read so many people like Garden Grill! It must've changed A LOT the last couple of years.. We went in May 2008 and it was horrible! The only bad restaurant experience we've ever had in WDW. We're not the negative complaining type and otherwise very happy with WDW dining! :) But Garden Grill.. rude, unfriendly waitress, bad food, small portions (and the waitress rolled her eyes when we asked for more, although you're supposed to! She even said to let her know if we wanted more.... Go figure!) +It's the only place in WDW where the chef's been really unhelpful and actually cheap when it comes to allergy diets.. The characters and the view were good but everything else was just awful! Anywhere else (including any counter service restaurant) is better, my favourite is Chef Mickey :D My husband really likes Crystal Palace. Great food, and nice CMs both places!!

It's always on our must do list! We had a really rude, unfriendly waitress but that was the only time it ever happened, usually it is great.
