Garden Grill to lose characters for lunch 9/08

I will be very upset if there are no Characters for our lunch in September! The only reason I was willing to go there is for the characters. I don't care for the food, luckly I have my niece with me so I can eat off her pan. Fries and chicken strips/nuggets.

I'm sure everything is booked by now, so I won't be able to find any other place to eat.

What is going on? I just don't get it, everyone is saying how hard it is to get ADR's and then Disney cuts character meals and even cut lunch altogether in October.

I called - and a CM told me that the Garden Grill Character lunch will be ending in October - so September reservations for lunch at Garden Grill (per this CM) still had the Characters....

So, this makes me feel better - BUT thank you Original poster for posting what you heard from your CM - I think anytime - anyone receives this type of information its great to have someone post it so it can be discounted or verified.....Thankfully - this time based on my discussion with a CM its been discounted!

I do not trust WDW-DINE as an accurate source of information. They give out incorrect or conflicting information on far too many occasions.

Anything I am reading on the net right now states that Garden Grill will stop serving lunch as of October 6. I am reading that to mean no lunch at all, characters or not.

Have not seen anything about September but I tend to doubt they will end an entire meal seating during free dining. I have also not seen anything about discontinuing characters prior to October 6.

I'm feeling a bit better! I had my travel agent check on the characters being discontinued for September lunches and she said that the lunch is finished in October. There was no mention of the character not being there for lunches in September.

Even if you are a party of all adults you can ask for the "kids" food. we did that on our last visit there.


We had a reservation for lunch there in November. I'm glad that I read these boards or else we would have shown up there and I would have been really bummed!!! We are going to go to 1900 Park Fare for dinner that night instead

I had to call Disney Dining for something else and asked them about GG because we too have a lunch ressie for September. She confirmed that character lunches were still on for September. Whew!

We have a lunch ADR for GG for the end of September.

I made the GG ADR when I found out about them discontinuing the character lunch. The CM confirmed like the others have stated, GG will be closed for lunch and only have a character dinner starting in October. Also, I made a dinner ADR for LTT for our December trip, when I found out they were going character-less after the beginning of next year. These are both places we have never eaten in. So, that gave me a great reason to quit putting it off and make the ADRs.

I just made a GG ADR cancellation (one minute ago) if anyone is looking for one! Call 407-WDW-DINE. I decided, we have too many sit down meals.
