Garden Grill or Le Cellier?

I have already made PS for Le Cellier in May, but now I'm wondering if the kids (ages 9,8 and 5) would like Garden Grill more? With kids --which would you choose? I realize that Le Cellier probably has the better food, but all we had planned on doing is getting the cheese soup and dessert. Tell me about the food at Garden Grill---is it good?

If you have eaten at any of the dinner buffets at Disney then you know what the food is like. Garden Grill for dinner is a character dinner. (Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale) The salads are very good and are grown at The Land. The worms and dirt dessert was a big hit with my DS4 and DD5. They serve the meal, skillet style. Pork, beef, potatoes and a veggie are some of the offerings. They serve corn bread in a flower pot! The room revolves and that is interesting with different views. (A house, a farm, a volcano, tropical etc...) You can also get "rehitched". When we were there, Mickey did the ceremony. We got a cake and a certificate. It was alot of fun! Just tell them you want to do this when you make PS and again at the podium before you are seated. (A side note: Not everyone gets to have the characters at the rehitching and not everyone gets the cake or the certificate. I dont know why.)

LeCellier was great! The food was fantastic and being in the Castle cellar was also nice. The kids enjoyed the ambiance and the drinks with the light up ice cubes. The pretzel bread is also great as is the cheese soup.

I dont think you can lose with either choice. We were at both Oct 2003. I would chose Le Cellier. If you are not doing many character meals, then I would choose Garden Grille.

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!

We ate at both places last summer with our two kids - 10 and 3. I think GG is probably a better choice for kids. My kids are not very adventurous eaters so Le Cellier was probably not their cup of tea although DD10 loved the preztel bread.

How about Le Cellier for your meal and Garden Grille for the ice cream social?

Doing both sound like a good idea to me!!! :D But I'll only be in Epcot one day.

I also think the ice cream social is a neat idea--except my strange DS doesn't like ice cream! But we are also just trying to eat one meal in the parks and the rest of the meals in our room to stick to a budget. I think I've decided on GG, in a few years when we go back I'll make sure to try out Le Cellier!!! Thanks for all your help! :)

With kids I think you made the right choice, Garden Grill hands down! Good food that kids will actually eat, great character interaction, and I liked the way the booths face outward. It is more private and my kids seemed to eat better with fewer distractions. With the rotation, there's also always some scenery to see. The only negative was that the tables are a bit on the small side for all the "stuff" they put on them! GG was one of the best overall meals of our entire trip!

We have done both with our kids and I would have voted le cellier. They are hard to compare as they really are two different dining experiences. We found the food at GG to be typical character meal fare, nothing bad but nothing great. Character interaction was very good though.

Now our lunch at Le Cellier was awesome. It was our big meal of that day, kids had grilled chicken breast and kid's steak. They also ordered kid's menu desserts which were the cutest desserts I think we have ever seen!:teeth: DS had "chocolate moose" and it literally looked like a moose's face! It had whiskers, tongue, maple leaf cookie antlers, blueberry eyes etc.... It was so cute he hated to eat it. DD had the "smores" which came granished with two toasted marshmallows rolled in sprinkles on a tall stick! Her plate had a plaid pattern of fruit sauce garnishes and the smore on top, hard to visualize but let's just say all the tables around us stopped to look at our desserts!

It seems like Le Cellier wouldn't be the ideal place for kids. It's a tad dungeon like and lacks the type of personality and flair that would keep a young one interested. Then again, you never know! Tell them about each place and ask them what they'd rather do. :earsboy:

With the ages of your kids, I would say GG and save LC for when they are a little older. I just ate at LC for the first time last Dec. I did not have my teen DD's with me but when we go this Nov. we will eat there. LC just seems like a little more "grown-up" than GG, but we will also eat at GG again because we all still like it! It is tradition with us to have one meal at GG when we go as a family. The characters interact with the teens in a different way than younger children so we still enjoy eating there.
