Garden Grill - no more character meal???

I read on the DIS awhile back that Garden Grill was doing away with the character meals. Is this true? When is this to take effect?

Character LUNCH is gone. Character DINNER is still OPEN!

Garden Grill no longer serves lunch at all, with or without characters. Dinner is still a character meal.

Not according to DVC member Services today when I called to make an ADR. I really hope that I was misinformed!

We had character dinner there in November. It was my understanding that they were just closed for lunch now and dinner remains the same as always.

Sorry I meant to quote a PP but forgot...the CM told me today that GG no longer is a character meal as of 1/4/09. I know that was the date for LTT to stop it's char. meals, so I am hoping she was just confused. I made a ressie anyhow in hopes that I could get some confirmation here...we need someone who has been there in the last week or two to confirm.

Oh man! I hope they gave you the wrong information. My son loved the character meal there and we are planning on returning there in 2010 for dinner.

I sure hope it's wrong too although I did hear this a few months back. It would be a shame because IMO GG offers one of the best low-key character meals with great quality interaction time. It's a little pricey but worth it for the convenience and fun.

Garden Grill no longer serves lunch, but is a character meal for dinner. They made this change in late 2008.


Liberty Tree Tavern removed their characters from their dinner as of 1/5/09.

I just made a reservation today for Chip n Dale character dining at the GG for dinner. I received the obligatory "characters are subject to change" message that you get from CM's on every character dining ADR you make, so I would assume that to mean it is character dining business as usual.

Oh...I was hoping that was the case! I have heard the DVC Member Services just hired a ton of new employees, and others are getting misinformation on a variety of topics. Not so helpful! At least this one is turning out not to be true!
