Garden Grill Ice Cream Social??

Has anyone else heard about an ice cream social at the Garden Grill In the afternoons?? I read it somewhere now I cant remeber where. If anyone has an info please let me know...

They used to do that but stopped a few years ago. I heard it was a really nice character interaction.

Instead of lunch or dinner you had Ice cream ,great character interaction
my boys loved this it was a nice way to pass an hour or so in the afternoon

We did this for our first trip in 2003--thanks to DIS I knew all about it. It was very nice, plus we got to do the Rehitchin' Ceremony (surprised the heck out of Mr. FFerret). Which was SPLENDID! Basically everybody gets icecream and drinks--forgot the price--and Farmer Mickey plus the chipmunks in their ADORABLE overalls came around to say hi. It was a fantastic idea; Disney should bring it back.

It was $7.00 per person.

We did it in May 2004.

When I called to make my ADRs for my May 2005 trip, I was told the ice cream social had been discontinued.

It is such a shame that they discontinued this. It was relatively inexpensive and the children had a blast!

And this would be exactly why it was discontinued. It offered a reasonable alternative for families to experience character interaction at a fraction of the cost of a regular character meal. Glad I did it back in 2002 as it was not well known and we had tons of one on one time. Mickey even sat down and colored with the kids for a while.

I am so sad that they dont do this anymore. It really sounded nice... and I didnt know it was so cheap!!
