Garbage Disposal Trouble

So last night I shoved some ziti down the garbage disposal. I am thinking that was the culprit. Both sides of double basin sink are now clogged. I tried and tried to unclog it myself. DH is away on business until late tonight. He is thousands of miles away. I have no useable kitchen sink.

I dumped Liquid Plumber down. Now my house smells like bleach and there is not only gross water in my sink, but now it has drained into my dishwasher.

Liquid Plumber does not work on ziti. Just so you know

I am wondering if my dishwasher is now tainted with deadly Liquid Plumber and if we have to get a new one?

In the meantime, I have a real plumber on call and he said he would be here by tonight.

Any tips as to what he will do? Why is it leaking into my dishwasher?

I am beginning to think that garbage disposals are nothing but TROUBLE. And I love mine so....

Did you check the reset button on the unit under the sink? Mine has a small red button on the bottom of the unit. Give it a push and see if that helps. That's it on my disposal knowledge!!

I work at a plumbing business and a lady just called with the same problem this morning. She called us back to cancel the service call and said she used a "clean" plunger and it cleared the clog.

Wow, I've had a disposal in every house I've ever lived in (except the one I just moved into, and we'll be installing one soon) and we've never had any problems with a clogged sink. That's the whole point of having a disposal in the first place!
