I read about the stuff like shampoos ect. But does this affect the kids gameboys, toys, colored pens, and stuff to keep them busy on our 8 hour flight? A very worried mum of two pirates

Yes,I do understand it is for our safty but what about everyones sanity?

So far travel in the US with those items is okay. My fear is that it will be okay for electronics on the way out, and not on the way back. I'm planning to hit the bookstore today and bring a few decks of cards.

The upside is that I won't be lugging heavy carryons and I won't have to find and bring all of those charging cords.

According to News reports, Electronics of any kind (Gameboys, Cel Phones, Laptops, Ipods and PDA's etc) are band from flights From or To the U.K. to/from the USA. Inside the USA on domestic flights currently Electronic items are ok at least for the moment, but be prepare as it could change.
