When did they do an Ironman at Disney? I always thought you couldn't swim in ther water, hence the sign next to the "Swim Finish". Always thought there was too much bacteria in the water

I believe this was taken in May 2009. We have been there numerous times over the past few years during this event. The swimming has been in the lake each time, and the bicycling takes off from Fort Wilderness and returns there as well.

I suppose that they allow these swimmers in the water because it doesn't pose the same liability as an unsuspecting guest. I have heard all sorts of stories about the dangers of these waters. But I don't think it is any riskier than many other Florida lakes, especially in the summer time.
