Game system for a 6 year old????

DS5 and I spend many hours bonding round the family PS2. Might like to have a Wii, but they are still scarce and I'm not ready to part with the cash. We play everything from Ratchet and Clank to DDR to multiple driving games to Disney's Kingdom Hearts. And considering you can pick up a brand new PS2 for about $130, plus there's a deep back catalog... well, I imagine our PS2 will stay in service for at least another year.

I'm getting a Vtech V-Smile for my DS3 and Nephew (5). They have games for all levels...early thru late, ages 3-6. They are educational and have games available in all the Disney, Nick, and PBS characters. I believe they also have the V-Flash for the over 6 crowd :)

My DN at 5 yrs old held his own rummage sell to buy his own Playstation2 :thumbsup2 and games later he wanted gameboy advance did the same now he wants wi so I 'm sure he'll be selling somemore toys he doesn't play with he loves playing his games after homework I think he will wait till spring to get it winter in frozen tundra land he said is for snowmobile riding which he loves doing he is 8 now and talks and acts like an adult he talks about his investments and the stock market declines:scared1: he's just a little bill gates:rotfl2:

We started with a GameCube, then in the summer got the PS3 -- My boys had saved up for several months.

We started with the GameCube because it offered more games suitable for the younger age group.

I would go with a Wii or if you don't want to spend that much, start with a Game Cube.

As a Mom I thought I'd hate the boys tied to TV games, but it has been great and reduced the number of toys around the house.

Nintendo systems are the best for children because they make more child oriented games than other systems that are designed for older teens and adults.
My kids who have had the gamecube since they were 8 and 3 love the GC. There are a lot of fun games for kids. My 5 year old son is actually playing Lego Star Wars II right now!
DS is also great. We also got one of those because there are so many fun games for small kids esp. girls available. We love Nintendogs the best.
Wii is also great, but it was harder for my 5 year old to play because of the way you have to learn to use the controllers differently for different games. We are upgrading to a Wii next year because they don't make GC games anymore (new ones) and it is outdated. You can play all the GC games on the Wii so that is great. The Wii is great and fun and I and my oldest son just love it. If you want to spend $250.00 on a system that is the way to go because it will save you money in the long run, not like us who had to buy the GC and all the accessories, now have to buy the Wii and all the accessories.

Overall, I would go with the Wii and if you don't want anything that elaborate, a DS is great for kids:)
