Hi everyone,

In a month or so I will be going on my Disney trip and have also booked a stay for the galatic Star cruiser. As the trip is getting closer I am starting to get slightly worried/ regret the price I’ve paid for the experience ,im just worried if the price will be worth it as I’ve been saving since it was announced and it’s something I’ve been wanted to do so. .

I just wanted to ask people who’ve been what was your experience like and your favourite part ? ( without giving too much away) would you do it again?

Thanks!

I haven't been, but everything I've read about it has been positive. I think @lentesta (who is not known for being a Disney apologist) put it particularly plainly:

Over its nearly 100-year history, the Walt Disney Company has invented several entirely new themed entertainment businesses. Released in 1928 (and introducing the world to Mickey Mouse), Steamboat Willie was the first cartoon with synchronized sound. When it debuted, the Museum of Modern Art notes, it was so groundbreaking that it “threw silent animation into obsolescence” overnight. Likewise, Disney’s 1937 release of Snow White, and its 1955 opening of Disneyland in California, were the first entries in what’s now the billion-dollar feature-length animated entertainment and theme park industries. Disney remains a leader, if not the leader, in both.

I got to experience the Starcruiser on its first-ever “voyage” with paying guests on March 1, 2022. I’ve covered theme parks for more than twenty years, and Starcruiser is so far beyond the current state of the art in themed entertainment that it deserves its own category: Starcruiser-like hotel experiences. It surely belongs on the short list of Disney “firsts.”

It’s also (you’ll pardon the pun) astronomically expensive, starting at just under $5,000 for two people for two days. The cost makes Starcruiser worthwhile only to well-off, experienced travelers who enjoy both Star Wars and days-long role-playing. If that’s you, then this is a chance to create your own Star Wars story that stays with you for the rest of your life.

I think you will love it. It's a once in a lifetime experience. Go and have fun!

Thanks @Brian Noble!

@OP95 - You'll have the best time if you "go all in", as the kids say, and immerse yourself in the story. That includes doing all the tasks on Day 2 in Batuu in DHS, because some of those activities unlock new things for you to do back on the ship. Bring a spare phone battery.

As far as survey results go, we (Touringplans and the Unofficial Guide to WDW) have received 8 surveys about the Starcruiser so far. 7 of the 8 said they'd do it again, and all 8 said they'd recommend it to a friend. Eight surveys isn't enough for a statistically valid sample, but I think we'd all be really concerned if those numbers were zeroes. So as far as we can tell, people seem to like it a lot, even for the money.

Please let us know your experience. I'm always interested in whether Disney makes material changes to things once they've launched and the first set of reviews is written.

I'll never do this, because talking to strangers is what I go on vacation to avoid. But I consume enough Disney podcasts to know that you have to really try to make the most out of this. I don't see how that's possible without some spoilers, at least a few, to come up with a strategy and understand what you are walking into.

I also think the experience would be enhanced with a good backstory and costume. When my daughter was little, I spent $10 on some blue facepaint, the nice kind, so she could really be Vampirina when she met her at Hollywood and Vine. I think something like that could go a long way in this environment, where the cast is trained to respond to this kind of dedication.

And hey, if the man @lentesta himself says it's going to be good, it will be!

Try not to worry about the money - it's something that you want to do, so it is what it is. Focus on the experience and the memories. I think it'll be a balast and you'll have lots of fun!

It is a lot of money, but it was a lot of fun. You have to have realistic expectations though of course. A lot happens with character relationships in the first hours right before the ship muster and directly after. If you know what side for sure you're on (we were set on the "Jedi" Force Sensitive path), then engage with the corresponding characters right away. They will send you messages in the datapad and it worked for us to answer them right away. I would LOVE to be able to do this again within the next year but that's just not realistic. Also, my kids (3,6) are a little traumatized because it was that real to them. Have fun trying something new!
