One of the reasons they are issued is "no stairs" so I don't know. The CM definitely shouldn't have been rude or shouted.

The op said that a white cane with red tip was being used. I thought that if a guest was using something like that or if they have a wheelchair, ECV, walker, ect that a GAC would not be needed for them to use something like an elevator or wheelchair ramp.

They should not.
And, as I posted, I have seen people many times using the elevator at Americsn Adventure without a wheelchair or any visible need - just by saying they were not able to do stairs.

Well the GAC seems to be helping even though I'm visibly using a mobility device, go figure.

We went to fantasmic last night, I asked a CM where I should try to sit with a visual impairment, showed the card and a man with a red light slotted me plus 1 into the disabled section in front of two lovely ladies from Alabama who were in ECVs.

We sneaked a peek of the food and wine festival today and it all looks very accessible. One CM talked me through the food options with a few recommendations based on what she liked last year.

The thing that keeps coming back to me and scares me is the lack of response from the CMs at Buzz light year when the OP fell and hit her head. I have been on many attractions that have literally shut down for a small portion of time because a guest fell getting off the attraction. Ever since my mom almost fell getting off Haunted Mansion a couple of years ago I make sure that I ask when I come up to a omni-mover ride (moving walk way) that they at least slow down the ride so I can get in easily. HM and Spaceship Earth can accommodate this easily. Be weary of rides like the TTA where they don't readily slow the ride down for guests.

Honestly I believe it unfair of any individual who is not visually impaired/legally blind to be giving an opinion to this poster. Especially the person infering that the posters vision must be good considering the ability to be self mobile. I have completely blind friends that are that. But what must be realized is not all can adapt so easily if not given a length of time to adjust to vision loss in life.

I am legally blind and a few years ago also recieved a head injury at a Disney park. Since, I have been supplied with a GAC card that provides direct attraction access avoiding any curving line ques, stopping of moving walkways for loading, avoidance of stairs, etc. Next time ask for a supervisor.

I am really sorry to hear. However, I do beleive you should have gone straight to guest relations after your fall regardless of the injury magnitude. The fall itself even if no injury had occured is the point of need for accomadation.

I am so happy that the GAC is helping you and I hope that the rest of your trip goes well.
